US paras make porn

But he wasn't ever in the military was he? :D

This story sure had me chuckling a couple days ago, certainly shows how stupid the american homophobia in their armed forces is. If gays are capable of reaching the elite top tier (and frankly, what's to stop them? Military being filled with hot, well-trained hunks and all... :D), surely that says a lot about how rediculous it is to discriminate on basis of sexuality. Which sex a person prefers in bed (or, well, anywhere else as it may seem) obviously has no influence on that person's ability to defend his country/enforce global american imperialism!

true ... the article doesn't say, but im guessing they were wearing army uniforms in said video. And if thats the case it wouldn't matter whether u were in the army or worked for mcdonalds

wearing ur uniform in a porn flick won't go down to well.

if they weren't wearing their uniforms then yeah, the reaction is a little ott

Kinda off-topic, but I found out today that there's such thing as snot porn....yeah.

On a more serious note, what's the reason (given) for not letting gays in the military?

could be partly that, but isn't against the rules to be making money on the side when someone is in the military?

Heh, wow, busted down to Private (lowest rank in the military: simply having a few college units can get you to private first class, and many make PFC anyway out of boot, or are promoted automatically within something like 6-9 months....so that's pretty bad). Wonder what they were busted down from?

Well, do they word it as "well if your around men, then your simply too aroused to fight for your life!"?

You never know what these conservatives will come up with next, who else can stick their foot in their mouth AND their head up their ass....hmm?

It has nothing to do with that, but rather the social cohesion of the military unit.

Well, I have some family in the military right now. So while I can't say whether or not I agree with the policy, I can understand it.

Basically, it's like this: if you're in the military, and you don't fit in, life is going to be hell. And when your army is on the field, you don't want any outcasts to be out there fighting: you want your fighting units to be well-oiled machines.

This is similar, in my mind, to when women were first allowed into the military. Put simply, life really sucked for them. They were different. Things have gotten better, but it's still not that great.

So, in the long run it might not be all that bad if gays were allowed to be openly gay in the military, but in the short run it'll be quite bad, at least for those gays. But you have to also bear in mind that the US military is quite strongly Christian. This isn't necessarily due to who the recruits are, but rather has to do with the culture of the military itself. So some greater degree of homophobia than you find in mainstream US culture is to be expected, and mainstream US culture isn't exactly tolerant (from what I can see on the news and stuff, anyway).

Still, the government could at least pretend to be tolerant.

Could it have anything to do with the "gays" not being able to fight worth a shit? I mean how can you seriously hurt someone by slapping them?
