Upgrading to SSD's for PS4, an awful choice?

It seems to be a major firmware bug on one particular samsung SSD.

"Performance Restoration supports only the NTFS file system."

So on consoles the solution is to flash the fixed firmware (from a PC) and wipe the drive clean?

I have a bunch of Samsung 840 Evo ssd's and applied their performance fix without issue on pc, but I don't think it would work on a console file system because the fix only supports NTFS. It basically took a few seconds to flash the firmware, then it took about 30 minutes (on a 250gb ssd) to change the way all the data is stored to accommodate the fix, I assume that second step would not work on the console file system. Worse case though you flash the firmware which is really quick, wipe the drive and just re-install your games and saves on it.

Yeah, just flash the drive, put it back in your console, reformat it, and then use it normally from there on out.

the performance restoration is basically just moving the data around. so if PS4 have HDD full backup option, you can flash the new FW. Backup the PS4 HDD, wipe it, and restore the HDD data.
