dukmahsik said:well we need see a full 1080p resolution pic just to see how sharp the textures are but I agree they are sharp.
Well, yes and no.Titanio said:I might be wrong on this, but the higher resolution should generally bring benefit as far as texturing is concerned?
The first step of making a videogame is to blur the line between what you do and what you deserve........yeah, huh?Shark Sandwich said:Start to crate time looks like zero seconds. Old Man Murray would love this one. It also features a sewer level and a big rectangular room with a tiny table in the center for some reason. Looks like typical half-assed garbage to me. Can't you imagine the developers: "Gee, what should we put in our game?" "I know, how about a sewer level. . . make sure it has plenty of crates and barrels!" "Brilliant! I just created this huge rectangular room and painted the same texture on everything. . . . what else do you think it needs?" "I know, just put a tiny wooden table in the middle and call it a day!"

Vysez said:Well, yes and no.
People tend to consider textures as being sharp due to the Textels/Pixels ratio of a screen.
For instance, a unique and strechted 512x512 texture for, say, a door would be seen as being really detailed for a 3rd person type of game that runs at a 480p resolution. Since the Textels/Pixels ratio should always, or most of the time, be = or + 1.
At 1080p, the ratio would be more often inferior to 1.
Of course, detail texturing can aleviate this problem, just as much as the fact that the PPI of the HDTVs are higher than the ones of the SD/EDTVs.
NANOTEC said:No but Kameo looks gorgeous. Do we really need PS2 level visuals running at 1080p?
Some people have praised UL's art-style on PSP because it is different to the norm. I don't mind the srt-style myself per se, but the images are very barren and uninteresting, and the stills lack eye-candy. Now if the animation is fully physics based, everthing is interactive, and we're talking next-gen gameplay even if not visuals, then that'd maybe give some leeway. However, regards not knowing what stage the game is in, you just plain shouldn't show early images if they don't show the game in a good light! It' a marketting no-no. Look at the noises made against the XB360 early showings at E3.Kabbage said:I like it... Im glad everyone isnt just thinking that they need the "realistic" shooting game to qualify for next gen. I like the textures indoors and it looks different.
Sure it is fairly inconsistent with some shadows and some textures... but who know what stage the game is because it does look, well, empty.
No, it's an 'action RPG' or Hack-n-slash in the vein of Gauntlet. Closest titles ar Untold Legends for PSP, Champions of Norrath on PS2, Baldur's Gate Dark Alliance 1 and 2 which appeared on XB, Dungeons and Dragons Hero's which was XB. Similar to a more action variety of Diablo 2 on PC I believe. Basically run around levels getting swarmed by monsters, kill them with spells and special moves, gaining XP which you use to level up while collecting better armour and weapons. Smashing barrels that people have left large sums of gold in. Killing deadly animals to have them drop suits of armour and battle-axes. Or rather silly but good fun in multiplayer. DA1 was an excellent two-player experience on PS1 many years ago, is still good now, and took the Gauntlet concept to the next level. Nothing yet has made the same jump.dukmahsik said:it's very underwhelming, is this game along the same lines as kameo?

Odd that unpolished screens have "leaked" out. Given Sony's earlier media control and all.

The outdoor shots are somewhat reminscint of the first capture above, before they "bring everything to life" with the grass and vegetation etc.[/QUOTE]
Yeah, that definately seems like it would be used in those untold shots. Untold has some random generated scenery or something on the psp, so I guess that tech would work well for a "next gen" version of it. That would be nice to see a smaller version of the "leaves" demo incorperated into the engine, being in the forest and all.
