Untold Legends: Dark Kingdom screens (aka boooo SOE)

Image 6 shows a painful lack of shadow for the table. The tree shadows are very low resolution. The The only plus for these shots is the very high level of AA. Which could of course just be promo rendering, or a supersampled 1080p downscaled image. If the latter, it bodes well for IQ on SDTVs!

It's not like there's even dozens of enemies. There's like two at most. If this is the game Joss was talking about, I concur.

I'm sorely tempted to bring up the forbidden topic. SORELY tempted.

Anyway, yeah, it looks like they'll have to jump up a ways to reach Kameo, which is not the position Sony wants to be in.
Kameo is a fuckin beautiful game."Ogre's swamp" and "Enchanted kingdom" have to be seen to be believed.Kameo doesn't belong in this thread.

Even though these pictures, obviously, don't represent the ps3,i can't wait to see some real time gameplay shots of ps3 games....

These look absolutely terrible...but considering SOE's other efforts and how early the game may be, I wouldn't put too much stock on this representing the PS3's capabilities.

Umm..the ground textures look good.

It looks fun though, like a next gen gauntlet. Viewed like that it could be fun.

Finally we get to see some shots of a PS3 game. Bring em on!

Finally? We've seen PS3 game media before. Go back and look at the shots of Resistance even as far back as E3. Or Fifth Phantom Saga even. We saw Mobile Suit Gundam played live, and apparent gameplay footage of Warhawk at TGS. There are shots of The Darkness in the new OPM too.

There has been a long dry period.

It looks like the tech might have been used in the game..it has a similar look to it anyway. It could be applicable if they're going to use randomnly generated dungeons and stuff, but I dunno..

Note the mention of a Playstation3 online service - suggests there'll be a platform-wide service as rumoured rather than something each game has to put together for itself.

So, if I were a Korean Developer, there would be no way Sony could play the "quality" card on me, with the likes of this.

I hear you guys saying that SOE games are pretty crappy on PS2...was it visuals or gameplay, or (hopefully not) both?

edit: some grammar...

I can't admit to playing their games, but I guess they reviewed reasonably. I think when people say SOE was poor on PS2 they're talking visually.

I should think that Kameo is about the baseline for what Sony wants to hit

Not sure what you mean here, are you talking about the developers of this game in particular using Kameo as their personal benchmark...or "Sony" as a whole?

considering all the flak they've shot at the 360 and its games.

Huh? Are you talking about Sony PR or forum fanbois here? Because Im having trouble recalling all this "flak" being "shot at 360 and its games" from the official Sony camp. Did Kenny's 1.5 remark really burn that deeply? :)

Maybe they've set the bar too high for themselves?

Or... and I know this might sound crazy, but maybe there's lots of different studios developing for PS3, both 1st and 3rd party, and they all have different bars and expectations set for themselves? Fancy the thought.

I think that might be a bit of a stretch. Now if it said through "PS Connect" or "Sony World" or something like that, then i'd tend to agree. However, I think you could easily find the same wording on a PS2 press release for the latest SOCOM and it could still be considered accurate.

I like it. Nice clean look well presented look. The backgrounds seem nicely detailed, and the art style is fine. Not blowing me away, but I would like to see it in motion for sure. There could be much more going on than screenshots show.

i really like the outdoor environments. Wish they'd have more enemies onscreen at once. I get the impression that the world may seem a little too lifeless if they keep going at this pace. Then again, I suppose i haven't seen any "towns" or "cities" or w/e. Aside from that, its satisfactory. I suppose that if the PS3 misses its spring launch (which is getting more and more likely every day), they could polish it up a bit and throw in a few things that were thrown out due to time-pressure.

PS3 launch games. Not that all games will be above that line, but that most will.

Sony PR. Sony has been lobbing shells at the 360's graphics since E3 (maybe before). Remember how the next generation doesn't start until they say it does?

Or... and I know this might sound crazy, but maybe there's lots of different studios developing for PS3, both 1st and 3rd party, and they all have different bars and expectations set for themselves? Fancy the thought.
You're obviously defensive about this, but I assure you there's no reason for that. I asked a question, nothing more. Sony has built their platform quite a bit on technical superiority. If they don't show a marked improvement over X360 games (regardless of how unreasonable expectations are), this is just the tip of the iceberg in negative backlash. Of course, this game might be a severe oddity, or it might improve dramatically before it launches. I don't know, which is why I only asked the question. It's not an unreasonable question to ask.

Keep in mind that Sony's launch games will be facing off with the likes of Gears of War and Splinter Cell: DA.

This game is really ugly.

But has anyone actually picked up the new OPM. The Darkness is ridiculously awesome looking. Seeing the two screenshots together is like night and day.
