Universal Truths

Considering they have six feet the effect should be major!

Maybe there's green energy to be harvested right there? :D

G O D, please SAVE us.

We live in a terrible evil world full of idiots who think their sarcasm is very funny...

After several years of research and concern, a team of scientists headed by Jerry Bromenshenk published a paper in October 2010 saying that a new DNA-based virus, invertebrate iridescent virus or IIV6, and the fungus Nosema ceranae were found in every killed colony the group studied. In their study they found that neither agent alone seemed deadly, but a combination of the virus and Nosema ceraneae was always 100% fatal.

What does funghii and virii have to do with GMO crops, pray tell?

You know, instead of mumbling a lot of vague nonsense as you tend to do most of the time, why not try to rationally further ONE argument to its logical conclusion, such as your vague waffling about space aliens and the origin about mankind for example.

I'd really really like to hear more about that.

Sarcasm != satire or simply poking fun at.
Btw, your study looks to be bullshit.
Information about the study was released to the public in a front page article in The New York Times with the heading "Scientists and Soldiers Solve A Bee Mystery". A few days later an article was published in Fortune Magazine with the title, "What a scientist didn't tell the New York Times about his study on bee deaths". Professor of entomology at Penn State University James Frazier, who is currently researching the sublethal impact of pesticides on bees, said that while Bromenshenk's study generated some useful data, Bromenshenk has a conflict of interest as CEO of a company developing scanners to diagnose bee diseases. [113] A few months later the methods used to interpret the mass spectrometry data in the Bromenshenk study were called into question, raising doubts as to whether IIV6 was ever correctly identified in any of the samples examined.[114][115]

As I understand it, this is currently the most likely explanation for colony collapse disorder. (Edit: I'll look into it a bit more after noticing the previous posts...)

Apparently UT thinks this is a joke?

Edit 2: Reading up a bit further, it really sounds to me like the most reasonable hypothesis for CCD is some sort of infectious disease (for example, apparently beehives which have suffered from CCD can't be re-used with other bees until they've first been treated with DNA-destroying radiation). So it sounds to me like this particular bit of work was crap, but there are other reasons to believe that this is the right way to go to understand the cause. The idea that it could be GMO's is patently ludicrous, and pesticides and other similar environmental factors have been around for too long to be having much of a direct effect on current bee populations (though it is conceivable that some of these may have an impact on the spread of a disease which may be causing CCD).

That's nothing
In North Korea the ruling family has built private rail stations that serve lavish complexes.
One glaring example was found on publicly available satellite pictures, with a rail branching that only leads to the palace and even a tunnel.
90% of freight transport is on rail (the country can't support fleets of trucks and roads) but the trains can be stopped, parked, scheduled every time the President rides in his own.

That's with trains that can be slow as shit because the tracks are so worn out, too.

-Metro hub in capital, Riyadh, looks more like interior of five-star hotel
-It will boast marbled passages and gold-plated walls in space-age design
-London-based architect Zaha Hadid behind impressive scheme

It's not that bad :
- Gold leaves are very thin, I have a over a dozen CPU lying around with gold plated pins
- Arab monarchies use slave labor to build stuff
- It's dwarfed by the cost of excavating a metro network, dealing with the pipes and conduits that were already there, lost business where public works obstruct the street. And it's maybe not a good justification but it seems like every other country pisses tons of money on airports, rail stations and olympics.

Regardless of anything else, Zaha Hadid is a pretty awesome architect, though. Saw an exhibition of her stuff at the Guggenheim Museum back in 2006.

:( Things go from bad to worse:

Major US weather satellite may have died

If you live in or visit the United States, whether you realize it or not, you’ve dealt with data from the GOES satellite system. GOES stands for “Geostationary Operational Environmental Satellite” and is a huge part of producing every single weather forecast in the United States.

The GOES system consists of satellites in two positions known as GOES-East and GOES-West, which are geostationary orbits, meaning that they stay over the same spot on the Earth’s surface and orbit the planet 1 time each day. They have a constant view of the same area, allowing them to monitor weather systems as they develop.

Because of the curvature of the Earth, at least 2 satellites are required to make this system work. GOES-East can take some pictures of the Western U.S. or the European side of the Atlantic, but they’re not high resolution because of the distance and angle the images are taken at.

Basically, every single weather forecast for the Eastern United States uses data from the GOES-East satellite. Satellite data is a key input into the computer models that predict how weather systems are going to evolve and where they are going. It takes images; measures air pressure and water content, and produces data that can be fed into models for what weather will do over the next several days.

You may have noticed some of the successes of this program over the past year. Perhaps the most notable was Hurricane Sandy, pictured here in this image from GOES-East; the satellite in the GOES-East position provided the data that allowed forecasters to predict as early as 5 days in advance that the storm would make a left turn and threaten the New York and New Jersey coastlines. It also has usefulness in predicting the chances of severe weather days beforehand, as was seen this week in Oklahoma. Without this satellite, the early prediction of Sandy's path would have been impossible.

The current GOES-East position is filled by satellite numbered GOES-13. This satellite was launched in 2006 with a projected 10 year lifetime. However, in September of 2012, the satellite began returning images that were noisy and of low quality. The satellite was put into standby mode for a month and was reactivated and returned to normal operations on October 18, 2012; literally just in time for Hurricane Sandy which developed as a tropical system on October 22, 2012.

When GOES-13 went offline, a backup satellite, GOES-14, took its place. GOES-14 sits in-between the GOES-East and GOES-West positions, allowing it to take over as a backup for either satellite should trouble arise, but it does need to be repositioned to fill in for either of the operating satellites. GOES-14 took over operations for GOES-East in 2012 when the satellite went into safe mode, but resumed a backup role afterwards.

That brings us to today. On May 22, 2013, GOES-13 unexpectedly failed. Tonight's weather forecasts will be done using the backup satellite, GOES-14, which has once again taken over satellite imaging of the US East Coast. Recovery operations are underway for GOES-13, but it is uncertain whether they will be successful.

If GOES-13 cannot be revived, the US weather coverage system will be maintained by the backup satellite, but that means there is no backup for US weather satellite coverage should any issues appear with the 2 operational satellites.

There are replacements being prepared for the current system, but there are political hurdles involved in the replacements. The next generation satellite, known as GOES-R, is currently being funded and built by NOAA and NASA with a scheduled launch date in 2015, followed by an additional satellite scheduled for 2019. However, in order to achieve the 2015 launch date, extra money needs to be put into the program this year to begin paying for the rocket that will launch the satellite. That task was made much more difficult by the sequester, a series of across the board budget cuts put into place by Congress that mandated all programs be cut by a certain amount.

Congress passed a different law in early March which restored funding for the GOES-R launch vehicle, but did so at the expense of other unnamed NASA and NOAA projects; somehow the agencies are supposed to come up with the money to pay for it despite having their overall budget slashed. NOAA, for example, has had to force much of their staff to take unpaid furloughs over the summer to come up with the money (just in time for hurricane season), and their computer modeling abilities are lagging behind those in Europe (which predicted the landfall location of Sandy a day before U.S. computers were able to do so).

If GOES-13 cannot be recovered, then the US weather monitoring system will be in a very high-risk state. Any additional failures from the 2 remaining satellites will lead to dramatic decreases in the quality and accuracy of weather forecasts and could literally cost lives. Congress has kept the program alive, but barely, and at the expense of other programs. The system that allows for weather forecasting for the United States is now operating with zero margin for failure or error, and if this satellite does not come back online, that will be the case for years.

How would you characterise those people who have in their vocabulary most popular words such as "fuck", "shit", "stupid", etc

Unfortunately, it is true and we are surrounded from everywhere by such "people"...

Do you think they really said those things.

In 1992, U.S. Secretary of State James Baker told their Congress "We spent over 30 thousand billion dollars to win the Cold War against the Soviet Union and its satellites in order to elicit material and spiritual collapse."

In 1947, the beginning of the "Cold War", the first civilian CIA director Allen Welsh Dulles said:

"We will throw all the gold of the U.S, the full force of U.S. for deception and stupidity of the people of the socialist world. Unnoticed, we will replace human values with fake ones. How? We'll find like-minded people in these countries and Russia. We will deploy a grand scale corrupts work, will tear out the social nature of literature, will encourage authors to inculcate in man cult of sex, violence, sadism, betrayal- that immorality. We need writings mocking naturalness and integrity as archaic remnants. Vulgarity, arrogance, lies and deceit, drunkenness and drug abuse, animal fear among people, shamelessness, reporting, and many vices out in man to move. This will shake generation after generation, will cause erosion and will corrupt youth. We will create a man with the consumptive psyche of a simple person. All this will be done under the motto "Protection of human right and civil liberties."

Actually, when walking down the street, when talking with some people, I feel much of this is absolutely true.

This is still very very strong and in Eastern Europe it gets even worse :( I don't know what will happen- a war or revolution... Hopefully there will be a change for good. People are terrible :(

What I read recently and made me quite strong impression-

The system knows more about the human being than he or she knows about themselves.

And given they started simulating the brain using the most powerful supercomputers, I really don't know where this fucking world is going to. In all cases, I doubt it is anything good

Is that you xxx

Normal people?
Though, languages vary, in english you will maybe make sentences like "Fuck this stupid shit", "This sucks" or "This sucks donkey dick" ; in french you maybe can compose words more easily without making an actual sentence? "Putain de merde", "Bordel de merde", "Putain de bordel de merde", "Enculé de bordel de merde", "Sale connard de pute de bordel de merde" (latter are not really real expressions but stuff that can be made on the fly)

My parents never taught me to use such shitty ugly words in my normal tongue.

I want to have mannerly, civilised, educated behaviour which would really correspond to normal people.

I hate that shit introduced by the stupid system for bad words in daily conversations... It's annoying me ;)

I do sometimes hear some really fun, creative bits of cursing in English. But it never seems to stick.
