Cutscene to gameplay transitions are some of the smoothest I've ever seen in a game, look at that for example(part from the story trailer):

Haven't seen such smooth transitions in any other game.

Edit: Some impressions from a PC gamer (2 Titan X, 4k etc.) at gaf

Sounds promising. I agree that this has to be the best implementation of TAA this gen, in motion it looks impeccable.

LOL! I read that and laughed hard. What games are he playing at 4k that looks more aliased than ANY 1080p game? Regardless of the best AA technique.

I would NEVER say such a thing because it's just simply would not be factually true.

In the linked posts, he didn't explicitly claim that it was less aliased than all of his games at 4K ultra, just that it had fairly low aliasing and overall impressed him as much as his PC games at 4K on ultra.

As for the idea that a given 1080p game might suffer less aliasing than certain 4K games... that's not very strange at all. Just a matter of the scene makeup and how well-filtered everything is.

GTA V running in native 4K looks quite bad in certain areas (downtown areas / places with lots of buildings) without MSAA enabled. A 1080p GTA V running with 4x MSAA looks cleaner (jaggie-wise) than 4K alone. And 8x MSAA sampling just kills it.

That being said, enabling MSAA sampling with 4K is just playing in IQ God mode... which I do. :devilish:

thats cause of the rotated sampling pattern, if the programmer used an 4k framebuffer and then used the sample rotated sampling pattern to output a 1080p image, then not only it would match 4xMSAA on the polygon edges but everywhere else would look cleaner, eg less texture alaising.
that said 4k & some screenbased AA will very likely look better than 1080p 4xMSAA

From the multiplayer stream that Naughty Dog did. Chloe doing one of her taunts. I'm sure the Chloe fans on this forum board will enjoy it. :p

To me it sounds like troll bait. Why bring up 4k in the first place? If the game impressed him more than PC games, why not just say the game impressed me more than any game? These days the best looking PC games usually have a console implementation.

Assuming all things equal with regards to the use of graphics features (i.e. MIP mapping turned on, artists made fairly common texture resolutions, etc..), I've never seen a 1080p filtered, anti-aliased, or whatever upscaling pixel algorithm be superior in clarity than an image with 4x as many pixels.

He says he was just as impressed if not more than his overkill rig running games at 4K, obviously making a comparison because of the obvious hardware gulf between the two machines. He didn't expect it to look as good, that's a nod on the software engineering and what can be achieved through optimizing versus brute forcing (which is clearly what he is doing with two Txs).

That's basically what they meant. They were just emphasizing it by noting that they're accustomed to high-quality current realtime graphics.

"All things equal" wasn't a specified condition. And you said aliasing before, not clarity; those aren't the same thing.

Who is he?

Just a user that also games on PC with a beefy system at 4K. But it's not just him, every single one of those who got the game early are praising the technical aspect of the game, as well as the gameplay and animations. I'm more happy about the gameplay to be honest, i never found gameplay in Uncharted 1-3 exceptional, 2 was really good, 3 and 1 were serviceable. TLOU was much better though, and U4 is a lot better than U1-3 and TLOU when it comes to gameplay. We got comparisons to MGSV with some saying it's matching it and some saying it's better :D

I saw the last gameplay video (high bit-rate) of the game and I don't believe this person/persons.

The game looks beautiful and especially looks great in photo mode and maybe one of the best looking games on any consoles if not the best but actual in game graphics nothing so great that anyone can compare it with best games on PC at 4K!!!!!!!

Gamekult a french videogame site says after the preview event that is among the best visually and comparable to best PC games...

Another guy with a PC having a PS4 but sold it after Bloodborne, he goes to see a friend with early copy and said the same thing and he will buy a PS4 again...

It is only video and only one moment of the game and Sony bitrate video aren't great this generation...

Another GAF user said place are much more impressive than what he saw in the different trailer...

Reviews are out by the way, some are too spoilery, avoiding watching most. IGN for example has a lot of spoilers.

As far as i know, there is no difference between in game screenshots and the photo mode...

Anyway, he's not alone :

http://www.destructoid.com/review-uncharted-4-a-thief-s-end-359200.phtml : "this is probably the best-looking game I've ever played"

http://kotaku.com/uncharted-4-the-kotaku-review-1774827980 : "Artistically unconventional games such as Journey and Wind Waker HD may have their partisans who say one of them is the medium’s best-looking game, but in the category of photorealistic graphics, Uncharted 4 is now the champ."

http://www.hardcoregamer.com/2016/05/05/review-uncharted-4-a-thiefs-end/205541/ : "A Thief’s End is arguably not only the best looking game ever released, but its artistic values glow far greater than any other."

Etc.
