Uncharted 3

I hate spiders. I really do.

Once, when I was in Kenya, we came across a small monkey that was being eaten by a spider the size of Xbox and the silk in it's web was so sticky that it ripped your skin off if you were unlucky, or stupid, enough to touch it. It was like super glue....

With exception to the third pic all the rest are from pre rendered videos. Seems like these videos are confusing a lot of people into thinking the game looks a lot better than it actually does yet again as with Uncharted 2. Kinda hard to get a good idea of what the game actually looks like when 99% of the screens out there are bullshots or cutscene videos.

Lucky that the third one is the most impressive of the lot then isn't it!

We have seen some of them in the E3 demo without any transition from gameplay to cutscene to gameplay. Those are realtime. Also, some of them from cutscenes are also realtime, you can tell from their lighting quality. The pre-rendered cutscenes have significantly higher lighting quality on characters especially. They can be spotted among them.

Not really, nothing we haven't seen better in Uncharted 2. Everything I've seen so far has been indicative of a drop in IQ in favour of larger set pieces and physics. The E3 presentation almost had me wondering if it was running on a buggy UE engine with what looked like incredibly low quality textures reminiscent of Brink on 360.

Are you a bit overreacted?:???: Even in unchy 2 were enough low quality textures (especially in the final level).

You can tell straight away from the character detail in the cutscenes compared to the gameplay ones as you could with Uncharted 2 that there is no way they are running real time. Uncharted franchise blends the transition from cutscene to gameplay very well in their games as does GoW3 which makes for no surprise as to how well people are tricked into thinking these are in-game when they are in fact pre-rendered on PC with much better assets.

pre-rendered to video... on PC... with it's better assets.... which is then put as video on PS3.... to watch...

what part of that is hard to understand.

.......

Oh, i understand what your saying, don't get me wrong, i'm still trying to come to terms with your other posts.

IMHO...

That third gameplay segment is the most impressive because the rocking ship, rough sea outside and the lighting set up the mood very well. It is better than U2 levels -- even Chapter 20 -- because I can see that the team is better with their tools and techniques now. It's not just pretty graphics. They are able to convey the feelings and moods better while I move Nathan around. That sense of seamlessness and space is what sets Uncharted apart from other games,

As for pre-rendered on PC... they may do it on the PS3 using the same engine. Not the first time they or Polyphony Digital did it. They key thing is it's not jarring to flip between the gameplay and video. The pace/timing and quality are very well matched.

Is that real life or Steven King's The Mist??

One can tell when there's a transition from cutscene to gameplay when the cutscene is prerendered, from the change in assets, quality of lighting , IQ and a change in camera too. But a lot of the cutscenes happen in real time and then just the camera moves and settles onto the OTS view and game commences. SOme shots there are realtime and from such semi-cutscenes that happened during gameplay in the Demo. Where the camera just detached from the OTS view for some time and then the control was given back to the player.

This one for instance, is realtime, while u suggest its not:

along with two more boat shots there.
