I think the DLC mentioned is cosmetics inside of the games UPlay Section or UPlay Store? It was usually available from the games main menu. You used to get UPlay credits for playing games which could be redeemed for outfits. At least I'd hope it's not genuine Gameplay DLC.DLC will be unavailable? Seriously? And some friends of mine wondered why I tried to never buy games on publisher storefronts.
Exeption seems Valve, even games from almost 25 years ago are still there and being updated, with MP and everything.
If I understand the changes correctly, then it's not just about multiplayer, it's about accessing DLC that you've paid for in single player games as well.There can’t be a lot of folks playing MP still in these games. I played the SP in a few recently though - Blacklist and AC3.

If you cannot access the severs, it cannot authenticate purchases when you re-install a game. Both Ubisoft and EA have servers that need to authenticate DLC even when they have been purchases on the Microsoft and Sony consoles stores.
