Transformers - Trailer

Loved the movie.

Although still disappointed with some of their looks and overly done differences. Megatron and Starscream mostly.

There were a few parts that made me think "WTF". Some of the human dialoques were stupid. That blond girl's specifically. That part where she accurately hypothesized the possibility that a highly evolved mechanical life form probably attacked them was stupid. She guessed this based on what? It reminded me of cheap detective or adventure TV series movies.

Overally it was an enjoyable movie. I felt connected with the Autobots and sympathized with them

That was bloody awesome!

Hell, yeah, it had it cheesy moments, but for the most part the human interaction was scripted very ammusingly, it made that side of things quite engaging. Some of the Transformer battles were sequenced a little too fast to follow exactly what was going on (although our seating position didn't help, getting there only to have a front row seat).

I'd been looking forward to this movie for a long time (although it snuck up on me being out today - I was expecting it later in the week) and I can't say I'm disappointed at all.

I guess the question is whether its Galvatron next...?

I doubt it. He'll probably be in the third film... The second will probably be Megatron: earth mode.

The movie was far, far better than I anticipated. It actually had some plot and a little bit of character development. not much, but... >.>

I don't get why people all over the internet are going ga-ga over Megan Fox. The woman in the rediculous slowdown scene was far hotter.

Yeah I thought it was an incredible movie, too. The film could've done without the humans, of course. But wow, Michael Bay's style really rocked for this film. OMG..... It was the most memorable theater experience I think I've had in years. ;) I think the way they went with it being sort of an action-comedy was absolutely the right call. Some of that movie was hilarious and the action was, while a little on the busy side, really kick ass.

And I'm no movie snob; I like Michael Bay. Thought Armmegeddon was a blast (I even cried a bit which watching it) and really enjoyed THE ISLAND. I went in wanting a good, fun popcorn flick. What I got was an overproduced kids movie that- if I was under the age of 11- would go down as the greatest film ever made. It really was like a 10 year old's imagination splattered all over the screen.

And that's great here, great there. But for a 2+ hour movie? Ugh, it was so hard to sit thru. So dull. And the fights for the most part were ultra confusing, could not tell who was doing what to whom. Just noise.

I'll still go see it, I like cheesy summer flicks.

i saw Transformers last night (Monday, July 2) and though the film was good overall. like many people in the audience i was intrigued by that teaser for JJ Abrams' next film; well done!

Gotta agree, that trailer is incredibly well done for what it was designed to do: generate buzz.

Transformers was too long with too little action. And the action wasn't that well done. The first major fight between the bots? Just a few frames and you never see the outcome, how the yellow car won (Bumblebee?). And that house scene with the autobots hiding outside really needed left on the editing room floor. The two chicks were smokin' hot, though, particularly the brunette.

Absolutely loved it! Easily my favorite blockbuster movie of the year so far.

Hell of a job Micheal Bay. Bring on part 2! :D

They pulled off Megatron well and ofcourse StarScream just rocked.

She had quite some more lines in the leaked script and it made somewhat more sense there. I guess these scenes were cut, otherwise the movie would've been too long.

Some of the kids' scenes were rewritten for the worse too, I don't remember the guy trying that hard to hit on the girl...

Delusions of attainability? Because she's known to go for "washed out nobodys" almost twice her age? Kinda' like how older chicks like Ashton Kutcher, at least partly, because they know he likes older chicks.

Hmmm... the movie was so-so. In a thread about the game there was talk of the 'realism' of these Transformers vs the old gen-1 versions, due to their preservation of mass. Well - I certainly didn't see that preservation! I don't know, IMO there's already a Transformers movie made, and it was better than this most recent effort.

On the side, the whole manner in which the hacking/signals research angle played out made me crazy - cheese to the n'th degree - and were the government personnel supposed to seem one-dimensional in their characters? I don't know...

I wasn't really looking for or expecting any sort of realism. I thought the film had decent energy to it (usual Michael Bay style). I think they definitely went the right way by not really taking things seriously. But, hey, I'm definitely no Transformers fan and have no idea how their creative freedoms may have pooed on the dreams of fans. I watched the toons (and Gobots lol) when I was sub 10 yrs old, but that's it.

I'm LONG past expecting realistic "hacking", or even basic computing, in films. Didn't the gov't have Alienware computers? I saw that in either this or Die Hard. lmao. I'd prefer the movie makers just drop the "pooter nerd" crap entirely. But I think it actually may entertain the general populace. :)

Yeah, maybe in Die Hard it was Alienware... here it was Macs. :p

I enjoyed it a lot. I go into these kinds of movies expecting cheesy dialogue, a pointless plot, cheap laughs, and huge explosions. And most of all, I expect them to not take themselves too seriously. I got what I expected, and loved every minute of it. Only complaint was too much shaky-cam.

Uuuh This one is a tough one to call...
The thing is that when I go to see a Michael Bay movie, I don't expect to get an art movie or anything resembling that, I thought that Bay will be a good fit for this movie, because of special effect nature of this moviea and all. So when taking all that into account I can almost let all that shit run through my fingers, I mean there were lot's of moments that were just plainly sucking ass, mainly the "humour" was bad, granted I laughed few times, but often times I felt a bit embarassed. The government "specialist team" and her black coder nerd guy was a bit too much also.

But like I said I knew before hand that it's going to have all that crap, and I was not going to let that bother me, since I was going to see Autobots and Decepticons going at it. Prime and Megatron were great and the Transformer-models they used were good imo. I wish they both had more screentime over the human action. On overall I would say that 50% of the action scenes were Awesome, but the other 50% wen't to waste because of the shaky cam, It was quite impossible to figure out what the hell was happening on the screen on numerous occasions.

In short when there were big robots on the screen, the movie was great, but when there were humans on the screen, it sucked... Still out of the goodness of my hear I'm willing to give it 3/5 rating, because Prime and Megatron ruled!:)

I think Bryan Singer would have done better job than Michael Bay.

It looks like I'm using my 1000th post to review Transformers. ;)

Anyway, I just saw it Saturday and I LOVED IT! I've been looking forward to it for a year or so. I used to watch the Transformers all the time when I was younger. I'm no film connoisseur like some of the guys here evidently. When I go to a theater to watch a movie this is the kind of move I want to see. A summer, action-packed, funny, sci-fi movie. LOL I used to go every week years ago with my best friend when I had the money and no girlfriend or wife. And this was the kind of movie we always watched. Sit back, add a little suspension of disbelief and enjoy. No looking for plot holes, no picking it apart. Just sitting and enjoying another world.

One thing that was nice about my experience this time around was I finally got to experience the movie in Digital DLP Projection and Dolby Digital Cinema. Pretty freaking cool. Something I can't get at home. ;)

As for the actual movie, I loved it all. The human characters were funny and didn't take themselves seriously. They also interacted very well with the Transformers. The special effects were amazing. The cars transforming looked sweet. Lots of action and destruction. Great way to end it. Makes you want to watch again and again. Since I can't afford that, I'll just have to wait for the special 2-disk DVD set that will be coming. Hopefully by then I'll be able to afford the HD version too. And after the sales go through the roof I'm sure we will start hearing about the sequel. Hopefully they will get right to the action since they would no longer need to introduce everybody to the main characters. Can't wait!! Hehehe. Now it's time to try the game from my used game retailer. Low expectations I know, but I loved Batman Begins and both Matrix games. So who knows. LOL

BTW, if you really want a forum to talk about the movie and it's sequels, I highly suggest SuperheroHype.com. I go there for both Transformers and Batman movie info.

Later!

You'd be surprised at how easy and affordable it is to top the theater experience.

HD-DVD/BlueRay and a 1080p projecter would be ~$4000.

Even a $1000 "investment" is enough to get a 720p setup that is as good as most theaters.

Plus the only cellphones going off and baby's crying are yours.
