During jumps that lead to cut-scenes maybe, but it all seemed very consistent during actual gameplay. I especially loved jumping around high up in the mountain village. It just worked so well. Even deliberately missing jumps in order to catch ziplines far below yielded positive results. I simply wasn't expecting it to be quite as free-form as it was.
Thanks for your advice, game is certainly picking up, at least gameplay wise.
As for the speaker thing, I have found a separate volume control for the speaker on the controller, but no option to prevent sound that comes through the controller speaker from coming through the regular stereo. Because of that, the sound gets a kind of strange echo, that sometimes works, but sometimes is just silly.
It would be much nicer if the sound only came out of the controller for some of this stuff.
That speaker thing will be a problem for me, I play with my headphones on, as I have little daughter in the house. No way I can hear any "immersive" stuff from my controller. Ihave turned off the volume of my controller's speaker, will that make sure those sounds are redirected to my main audio?
In KZSF, turning off the controller speaker meant you won't hear the audiologs at all. It was very annoying for me as I Had to take off my headphones everytime I wanted to listen to an audiolog :-/ ! Is it the same in TR or are the sounds sent via main audio too?
Edit: LOL, Arwin , you are asking for the exact opposite of what I am asking for !
This game has really good Vita controls and looks shockingly good on the smaller screen!
The icons in Don't Starve are also a little on the small side.Everything from the PS4 will look very good on the Vita, since the games are rendered at 1080p and then downscaled to the Vita's 540p (which results exactly into 4 pixels on the PS4 for every 1 pixel in the Vita). You may only struggle with smaller text once in a while (which I found in Don't Starve).
There is an in-game option to disable the DS4 speaker. In doing so, all audio that would come through the speaker goes through your normal audio output device.
I am glad there is. I don't see quite the point of the additional audio via the controller speaker. I have a home theatre system and the audio is immersive enough.
Great game though !!
Seems that the PS4 has voice and gesture control as well ? I saw something in options but didn't try it out. Did anybody ?
The controller speaker is a neat gimmick but it's pretty much useless for anything tangible. When I fire a gun I want to hear a loud high fidelity BANG....not some low volume sound from a tinny little speaker.
I think it would be cool for a Walkie Talkie/CB sound output device since in real life those things have poor noisy sound quality anyway....but that's about all it could be used for unless somebody surprises me non-gimicky uses.
My audio equipment was thousands of dollars, but I prefer radio conversations and audiologs etc., to come through the controller speaker, because it really creates an effect that you're holding a radio or little audio playing device.. makes it a bit more immersive. I haven't played the DE yet so I'll reserve judgement on the gun sounds.I am glad there is. I don't see quite the point of the additional audio via the controller speaker. Spoken by a person who hasn't used it, it is a cool and should be standard feature next gen.
No, but the sound of the brass hitting the floor does. And the speaker is surprisingly clear, something like that would be a good use in a shooter.Do real gun shots sound like they're coming from a 1 watt speaker held in your hand?
I only have two games in which it's used (Knack and Resogun) and neither of them strikes me as "gimmicky", even if it doesn't really affect anything.
Which reminds me, if you set ps4 display resolution to 720p the games are still rendered in 1080p and then scaled to 720p.Everything from the PS4 will look very good on the Vita, since the games are rendered at 1080p and then downscaled to the Vita's 540p (which results exactly into 4 pixels on the PS4 for every 1 pixel in the Vita).

Could be interesting for games like Outlast or other such horror games, where they could play whispers or other eerie sounds from the controller speaker to mess with you.
