TitanFall [XO,X360]

???

Considering Sony sells a lot of Windows devices, they would also potentially benefit from someone playing a Sony produced game on a Sony PC. Especially considering that Sony PC products generally have a higher margin than other OEMs as they try to cater to a more affluent crowd.

People like to paint Sony and Microsoft as some kind of huge rivalry where they'll do anything to not benefit the other, but that just isn't true at all. It's a business. They are partners in some things and competitors in other things.

Games on PC would benefit both Sony and Microsoft. Hell, if Sony really wanted to, they could tie the games to their hardware like publishers and video card makers used to do back in the 90's such that it wouldn't run on a non-Sony PC (until the pirate hackers got to it, that is). I'd imagine the internet would explode if that happened though. :p

Hell, there's a Sony games division that almost exclusively makes games for the PC, although that looks to be changing with the PS4 with more projects being ported to PS4.

SB

Under SOE just release the games using their station software.

Then sony can keep all the profits.

It's hard to know whether this will change much now that Ballmer is gone but Microsoft has a long history of being predatory in their business practices that goes well beyond what should be considered competition. Historically at least I do not think MS viewed anyone truly as a partner.

Our enemies are the vendors of platforms that compete with ours: Netscape, Sun, IBM, Oracle, Lotus, etc.

It's a business.

And one of those "business" things is to make damn sure that the only place you can play Sony's 1st party games is on the Playstation platform. And while you do that there is absolutely no reason to give the competition awesome games that runs on Windows.

Selling hardware that depends on Windows is something else and afaik Sony doesn't really have any game like series. The same goes for Software that requires Windows, like games.

But this thread is about Titanfall, which i hope will be awesome and worth buying, being a FPS points to PC, being on Disc points to XB1 :)

The only thing confirmed by Respawn is 60FPS. They've basically said they'll sacrifice res to get there, but everything about its res is just rumor at this point.

Mark Rubin appears to have slipped up in an interview with Edge:

Q. So you see this being a continuing trend? Will PS4, being the easier console to work with, end up getting the better looking games in this launch window?

I don’t know but overall I do know that other companies have been saying that they’re also 720 on Xbox One – BF4 was 720, Titanfall has already said they’re going to be 720 on Xbox One so it seems to be the dominant direction at the moment, but so much can change.

...

Interesting that Respawn would be releasing that info through another developer. Or perhaps he is confused. If he's correct and Respawn has confirmed 720P, there should be an actual quote from Respawn out there somewhere.

I don't think they have officially released that info, that why Mark Rubin made a gaff.

I'd be surprised if Respawn has any communication with InfinityWard other than to pass on a message of "Tell Activision `Fuck You`".

Um... Why would Rubin know? You think respawn is sending info over to the competition just for giggles?

Yeah, seems like Rubin's just making COD excuses.

Tetsura Nomuya impressed by Titanfall.

http://www.dualshockers.com/2013/12...titanfall-due-to-its-realistic-mecha-battles/

Final Fantasy XV and Kingdom Hearts III director Tetsuya Nomura was asked a few questions on the latest issue of the Japanese PlayStation-centric magazine Dengeki PlayStation, including what games excluding his own work managed to impress him.

The answer was fairly surpising (especially considering the Japanese tendency towards diplomacy): despite speaking to a PlayStation magazine Nomura-san had no qualms in singling out an Xbox game: Titanfall

When asked the reason, Nomura-san responded explaining that the game uses giant robots that aren’t real, but manages to portray realistic battles.

He was also asked what he thinks about the future developments of the gaming market, and he mentioned that according to him the social gaming trend will last for another year, while afterwards the consumer market will steer towards next gen hardware. He also foretold a hybrid market where different devices interact between each other.
