Three Versions of XBox2?

I would think that xbox 2 HD would have faster and more memory and a faster gpu in order to make it capable of HD resolutions in games, while the standard xbox 2 will only do 480i and 480p. PC owuld probably have the specs of xbox 2 hd but with an operating system...but how the heck do they plan to run pc software? Is IBM going to make an x86 compatible cpu?(like itanium maybe?) I could see an entirely new OS to replace the normal windows pc, but couldn't that just drive pc makers to switch to linux or something, perhaps with windows emulation for old windows apps.(as the hardware becomes more powerful)

I love it I pay for what I am going to use.

I am thankfull MS is doing this. I can pay for what I am going to use. I don't need a media center, wifi, movie playback and a toaster I just want a console. If I can save a few bucks and just get the base model ill be happy. I have played 0 movies on my PS2 I wish I could of saved a few bucks and got a version with out movie playback. I have always respected nintendo for that they build game machines.

Should we consider who posted this when considering the possibility of the rumor?

In all honesty, I have absolutley no idea about potential configurations, however the idea of multiple ones seems like one that would make some sense to me - I don't think this would differ that greatly from what we see from Sony at the moment.

Personally I'm not so sure about the "HD" version, although I can see some sense behing it, but the PC/Media Center version certainly does to me. This fits with the talk about the "HomeStation" last time around, and ATI has a lot of knowledge with DTV, HDTV and MPEG encoding solutions that could quite easily be leveraged.
