The Witness

Played some this morning. Almost zero sound in this game which seems an odd choice. As far as I can tell, there is no map so it is easy to get lost initially. The puzzles are inconsistent with clues so it can take a lot of trial and error to understand what you are being asked to do - depends on the puzzle though, some are super obvious and some are obtuse. A nice change of pace so far.

Perfect timing! I just 100%ed The Talos Principle today!

So happy the game is getting great reviews, I loved Braid, I know I am going to love this one too.

So much grass. And leaves. And colour. The IQ is very, VERY stable. Maybe memory fails me but one of the cleanest IQs I've seen in a while. What engine is this?

This game is beautiful. Definite contender for one of the best looking games of 2016.

The game is excellent indeed.

But the speed of the camera (when you turn around) is ridiculously too slow. Are there any gameplay reasons for it being so slow? How is it on PC?

Still waiting to buy it, found out it supported VR, so I held off purchasing until my OCR arrives next month.

If I were to understand the game, perhaps the slow turn speed is to help you spot things? Perhaps a fast turn speed you might miss nuanced details for puzzles?

I'm not entirely sure, but I think it's built just for this game, so ... ground up? I know that Casey Muratori worked on the game, and he's been a pretty strong advocate of coding ground up - (at least teaching it, see handmade hero).

The game has being rock solid 60fps until now (104 puzzles done). Artstyle is very reminiscent of Wind Waker except with tons more details, notably some healthy amount of vegetation and reflections.

I am at 85 solved myself, the sense of exploration and "OH! I get it now" moments this game provides is amazing. And i really, really like the lighting. I am playing on PC and the camera movement is pretty fast with a mouse so no problems there.

Some screens i got

Definetly looks stunning, there's some kind of Global Illumination too, I remember reading the Witness blog and being impressed by its graphics fidelity.
Photorealism definetly does not seem to be the goal to try to achieve, there are so many more interesting options instead !
