The Witcher 3 : Wild Hunt ! [XO, PS4, NX, PS5, XBSX|S, PC]

I've been mostly programming so not much progress. Just tried the Griffin fight, but getting a distinct feeling I am underpowered. What level do you guys recommend me going at it? So far I think I managed to get about 1/3 of its health down before I get myself killed. I think I'm still level 1 actually ...

I've found an infinite source of food by sheer chance! :) For those playing on Hard and up, Downwarren is IDEAL. I was looking for the Griffin school items and found this town called Downwarren. I was very low on food after some tough battles while searching for the Griffin stuff, and after entering Downwarren I noticed there was your typical flock of sheep and gooses.

So I used Igni on them to obtain Raw meat AND... there must be a glitch but after you kill a flock another appears!! :) Same for the goose. The cycle never ends, so you can igni on everything.

At that level I don't think you have much of a chance, but still... Roll over and evade when he is flying. Use Aard when he is on the ground. If you see he is about to attack, evade or use a bomb. IF you manage to get his health halfway down or so it will get to a point where you can save your game before finishing the fight. Raw meat and other edible things are very helpful.. of course. Igni the cows and the goose near the bridge in White Orchard, meditate, keep using Igni on them repeat. Don't forget to repair your weapons.

Yeah, better level up doing side missions and exploring to like lvl 3 or higher before tackling Griffin :)

Also today I went near that wired tree on top of a hill at the bottom of Velen map. There are some amazing monsters and one of them, similar to Griffin must be mega boss as where normally you see monster level it only shows '??'!
I die a lot in this game, but it's my fault trying to fight monsters 8 or even 15 levels higher :D
As lvl 11 myself I beat two lvl 20 Water Hags (not at once) but it took me good 30-45 minutes each! She also worn down my sword from 100% to 69%! Obviously I died on my initial 10 attempts but once I cracked it I was so happy!
Now I'm hunting better armour and swords as I feel I'm missing at least half the damage I could have with proper gear ...

WWWWWWWWW!!!!! just got the warewolf quest. Predictable story but. but... i did not like the correct decission
instead of investigating and finding out who the werewolf really is, choosing to "Stop the investigation and tell that the wife simply natural death" is the correct choice (it gives the biggest XP)

don't play for XP then. Play for the story, play the way u would react in reallife. The game feels wonderful then.

I haven't checked a single thing regarding this game on the internet and it feels like reading a lovely novel ! I have no idea what would have happened if I had chosen some other decision, but that's how life goes. You choose the lesser evil and move on. I found out the guy and decided to kill him for greater good. Don't know it was right or wrong, but that s what felt like it needed to be done at that time.

im in no hurry to finish W3 :D
ill savor every minutes, explore every brances :D

because Destiny HoW was a huge dissapointmet for me and completed just a few hours on release day. and there's no other games to play.

btw
@RenegadeRocks did you master the "mind control magic"? i got the 1st skill for mind control, and yikes. It works even on sidequest BOSS :D

have not tried on main-quest boss.

its just weird seeing the boss attacking their underlings lol

Damn it, run through some question marks and all of them are lvl 24+ monsters which one hit me...lol! Also, a lot of quests in my log are now lvl 24+

But there is still so much to do...it is crazy, the whole Velen map is covered with things already and there is still so much to do.

I do wonder how you guys survive without the Quen Bubble. I can stand there with activated bubble and get life back on hit. This is so important for me.

I wonder if people get away without Quen, when they use heavy armour? Anyone has experience with this?

It makes sense if you use light attacks.

I am still torn. Griffin is very cool for the many signs I want to max. Cat or Bear means that you can focus in one single attack button -if I go Cat there is no way I will ever touch the strong attack, and if I go Bear I'd never touch the light attack button again-. Decisions...
This is me. The light cat armour is actually quite a bit heavier than the medium Griffin armour but cat boosts fast attacks and has a boost to stamina where Griffin boosts signs and has no boost to stamina, but offers better protection overall. I don't know if things will change in Skellige, but now I'm doing far more damage with swords than signs so Griffin sounds like it would be a bad choice, unless the boost is seriously good.

Can anybody who has used both comment?

I have no bubble as I pimped my Igni first. Honestly it's tough! I have to dodge or roll with perfect timings or I'm in trouble! Also I can't go into a bigger fight without gearing up with the right potions and bombs. Simply I have to use all available tools just to survive, especially when fighting similar level packs of monsters, like drowners or higher level single opponents. But it's really good fun when after long fight you're left with no bombs at all, barely any life left and full toxicity so can't even heal yourself with potions! Afterwards I always try to hunt rabbits / deer to get some meat and boost my health again :)
BTW my Quen now can take two hits from lesser monsters before protection is gone!!

PS. I'm amazed how good some of the monsters are done! I love Foglets as you can see how they move in the fog when invisible by they way fog is disturbed! They are tough to defeat, especially when fighting 2 or 3 at the same time ...

This is my worry for spending time getting the Griffin armour, it enhances signs over swords and even with maxed Igni, you're finding combat challenging while I've only taken Igni, Quen and Axii to the max of Tier 2 of each sign's tree plus Tier 1 of Fast and Heavy Sword Combat and I'm finding I can kill anything as long as I'm careful. I'm really only using oils and bombs for monsters which are 5-10 levels higher than me.

I'm impressed you have learned the names of the species of monsters, I'm generally using my own definitions: "flying bastard", "creepy bastard", "wispy bastard", "annoying bastard" and so on.

By the way, there's an abandoned village full of lvl 25 foglets in southern Velen.

Finally hit lvl 30. Now I've got the master crafted ursine steel sword and the master crafted feline silver sword equipped. Any enemies below lvl 20 are a breeze now. For armour I've mix and matched with superior ursine chest, assassin gaunlets, condottiers boots, and superior griffin trousers. And the feline crossbow (mainly because of the 15% xp bonus from monsters). At some point I should probably investigate oils, and decoctions. I haven't really bothered with them yet. But I guess at this stage it might be a little pointless?

Don't forget to loot monster nests after you've destroyed them. I've got the majority of my greater rune stones from them.

Noticed that there will be another patch again probably tomorrow already, fixing some XP issues and lots of quest bugs, apparently.

Question: Where can I get my Griffin sword crafted ? I went to the guy in Novigrad square who says "Top Notch Swords" but the bloody guy crafts only armour :runaway: ! I have a full set of Griffin armour on and just need someone to craft the Griffin sword for me !

BTW, I am also without Quen, and its not that difficult or anyhting. My Igni is pumped up, so is my Yrden +light attacks. I guess, having my signs boosted helps :

You need to find blacksmith and I'm not sure but there should be retired master blacksmith in a bakery in Novigrad? I've learned about him from one of blacksmiths in Velen. Haven't got as far as Novigrad yet so can't confirm :p

PS. It's not diffilcut when fighting weak monsters, try a bunch of lvl. 15 drowners or nekkers :p
