The Witcher 3 : Wild Hunt ! [XO, PS4, NX, PS5, XBSX|S, PC]

Found a +100 sattlebag (total 160 now) in the part of Velen where you find Triss the first time (where you need a password to enter)...go to the merchant, right next to the entrance.

its become more and more dangerous to open B3D in library or any public places (nudity is banned in my country)

I've clocked over 100 hours and I still can't belive how much content they managed to put in the game. I'm open world game fan and I always expected that some things couldn't be done in this genre, outside maybe GTA series. Witcher 3 proves me wrong and set up a new bar for open world games and what kind of content they can have. Somehow I just accepted that Skyrims and Fallout New Vegas would be as good (as in not very good) as it get and this game makes 'em look like amateur hour.

Man, both GTA V and Witcher 3 this spring. I haven't played this much or had this much fun since 2005 spring, when I played World of Warcraft like madman :)

btw i remember months ago i said "witcher 3 is so stiff, blah2". But now... OMG its bloody awesome. Really put Dragon Age Inquisitor and Skyrim to shame on the animation-interaction-dialogue scene with sidequests.

And the language they use. I catch myself understanding bits of conversations and written text because they are using welsh words. It's quite strange sometimes but does help with the immersion factor!
Are you Welsh then? I kind of like the characters in the game, like Yen and others, because.., well, they seem to be from some small place in the world, from a minority. It also reflects the culture of the game. There are so many languages in Europe, and I speak a minority one 99% of the time. I defend it and my culture.

Some things sound very familiar in this game, and contrary to what some people believe, you learn to respect others more and their customs when you defend yours with a passion. Except when others want to make your culture disappear, then you dislike everything about them. It's a lack of respect to our forefathers and the people that brought us here and created a culture.

Sorry, I removed it already. I don't want your government to remove The Witcher 3 from your console because of me. I wonder if they ever saw themselves naked in front of the mirror. The picture didn't show anything out of the ordinary, but anyways...

In the end @HPTupolev and some others got it right. Patch 1.3 was released yesterday on the X1, weighing 604MB. The framerate is now locked, and the game seems to run smoother -no hiccups at all-. I've been playing a little tonight and I didn't see a single drop in framerate, although I didn't enter a busy city at all. XOne version seems to be very stable and that puts it above average.

D'oh, I forgot to mention this. There is a fish merchant in Hierarch Square in Novigrad. He doesn't appear on the mini-map but he's easily spotted because his stand is full of fish. He always has both types of seas shells (one produces pearls once dismantled and the other black pearls) and you can take them straight to the armourer in the same square.

The downside is you'll quickly clean out the armourer, local blacksmiths and the other merchants who'll buy pearls.
I think that in this case Tomira's method still stands, meditate for five nights and days (before a rooster crows, you will deny me three times @DSoup , but don't weep bitterly -ah no, that's a passage from the bible, when Peter denied Jesus three times, sry- :) ), sell stuff, rinse and repeat.

On PS4, Novigrad is super taxing wrt streaming content it seems. I am running through the city and it often needs about 20-30sec to load everything back when I stop and want to talk to someone.

I am wondering if a SSD improves this? Maybe W3 is the first game where a SSD has a real benefit during gameplay?

I haven't got there yet, although I've been in the swamps by sheer chance for the first time ever -not 100% sure it was the GPU stressing part of the swamps-, clear day, no framerate issues, but I was gone in a flash, so I don't know.

For those interested in the superb Cat, Griffin and Bear witcher sets, this magnificent guide explains it, how/where to get them, upgrading, etc :)

A kinda noob question but... how do you upgrade weapons and armour?

Additionally, are you guys going with the Cat, the Griffin or the Bear set? The Cat allegedly improves quick/light attack, dodging, and criticals, Griffin augments the signs, Bear improves the armour, vitality, and powerful attacks.

I am kinda torn tbh.

I am with the whole set of griffin armour. Works wonderfully with my signs boosted to 60% !

As for Novigrad, @Billy Idol I am also right there, meeting Triss for the first time and all and am not seeing any load times at all.

I went with cat armor, also with the one yellow ability that boosts light attacks. I use Quen intensively for protection during battle!

I am still lvl 15 aftet more than 5h following the main quest...decided to do a lvl 20 monster hunt...holy shit, the fight was super intense: I needed all the hints, oil, bombs and even one of those special potion which last for 30min (werewolf or so). At the end, I did it...was super cool and rewarding: 400XP.

I myself just run up into lvl 20 monster, but in my case I tried to kill him for 5 minutes, not made any significant damage and ran away screaming! I'm lvl 11 though ;)

Yes!

And I loved the flatulent cave trolls. Straight out of the hobbit!
I haven't got there yet, tbh.

Nice, I identify with welsh, irish, scottish, manx, bretons, cornish, but anyways. I recently watched the movie The Englishman that went up a hill and came down a mountain, fun stuff.

30 minutes? That's crazy. I love the levelling of this game. Character level matters a LOT in this game and there isn't autolevel for monsters, which means that you will know where to go to feel safe. Plus the fights make sense as you level up, I mean, it's balanced. You get what you expect. Kudos again to CD Projekt.

Toughest fight for me was that of Jenny... I ran out of food, ran out of everything. It went for more than 10 minutes. Only then when Geralt was at death's door and Jenny was on her last legs, I combined Quen and Yrden in a smart manner, plus I didn't get hit, I managed to complete the quest, which I had to leave several times before.

Good Gwent players are kind of hellish to beat. But it is so fun. The bloody count is an example. I played Gwent for about two hours against him before I could beat him.

It makes sense if you use light attacks.

I am still torn. Griffin is very cool for the many signs I want to max. Cat or Bear means that you can focus in one single attack button -if I go Cat there is no way I will ever touch the strong attack, and if I go Bear I'd never touch the light attack button again-. Decisions...

The diagrams of those items and stuff are in my inventory already, for the most part, I found them randomly after talking to merchants, but some are missing, because I bought them randomly. (just missing one diagram of each) :)

But there is a guide to know where all the diagrams of each School are.

https://www.gog.com/forum/the_witcher_3_wild_hunt/cat_school_gear_maps

"I asked about vendors who sell this maps. I found literally all maps. Here's list.

Bear School (COMPLETE):

1, 2 - Vendor and blacksmith in Backbough
3 - Crow's Perch Vendor
4 - Lindenvale

Griffin School (COMPLETE):
1,2 - Midcopse, Armourer
3 - Hierarch Square in Novigrad
4 - Hattory (It's name of Vendor, basically that elf which gives you quest Of Swords and Dumplings - You need to finish that quest in order to get the map)

Viper School:
There's no map or upgrades and it gear set has only two swords, it's like starter Witcher's gear. You can find it in White Orchard. You can start the quest in castle ruins by searching one of chests."

I've got all three sets of witcher gear now. And I'm mixing and matching. The ursine weapons are brutal but the griffin armour is really effective. The feline gear seems to be in the middle somewhere.

The toughest fight I've had so far was at the lighthouse. Though short(ish) it is damned hard. I've also met an ice golem that can kill with one hit even with Quen and is as tough as nails. I'm saving that one up for last. I've also realised that monster nests are a great way to level up. Don't destroy the nest just kill all the critters, retreat to a safe distance and meditate for a day. Rinse and repeat.

And what do you do with all your trophies? My inventory is full of the buggers and I'm loathe to sell them. Wish you could buy a house or something so that you could mount them on display.
