The Witcher 3 : Wild Hunt ! [XO, PS4, NX, PS5, XBSX|S, PC]

any idea how the DRM will works with this game?
generally GoG games dont have DRM but im confused...

if i buy this from GoG digitally, im sure i can just download and play, but i prefer physical with my utter slow internet.

but if i buy physical disc,
1. the disc install to PC. then play (no need GoG registration right?)
2. redeem the code into GoG and i will also get the license inside GoG.com.
3. sell/lend the PC disc <-- O_O

or the disc will be DRM'ed?

CD Projeckt Red doesn't put DRM on their games. They don't believe in it. Unless something has changed recently. Hopefully, people reward their trust in consumers by not being douchebags and reselling the copy they bought while they are still playing it. :) Or distributing their copy of the game to a multitude of people.

It's going to get pirated, but hopefully people can try to reduce the impact of it by actually buying the game if they are going to play it. And get their friends to buy the game if their friends are going to play it.

It's available on Steam. And if past Witcher and Witcher 2 are anything to go by, it'll likely be 50% off the first time it appears on a Steam sale, and then eventually 75% off in a Steam sale. Just don't expect it to happen right away. If I were to take a guess, this year will see it at 50% off (maybe only 25-33% off if it is still selling really well) during the Winter Steam sale.

Also, if you pre-order you get 10% off. If you own either the Witcher or the Witcher 2, you can get another 5% off for each one. If you own both, that's a total discount of 20% off. At least with the US Steam. But that just offsets the higher price of The Witcher 3 (60 USD) compared to the first two games (50 USD). Totally understandable though with inflation and the larger seemless game world.

They've said they want to avoid a day 1 patch if at all possible because they know there are Witcher fans who aren't always connected. This was in direct response to the increasingly common massive day 1 patches like the 20Gb Master Chief Collection patch.

During the GameTrailers interview they said they're currently working on the expansions.

Looks like they weren't able to avoid it, there appears to be confirmation of a day one patch sourced from German Magazine, Gamestar. Along with some impressions of the game (refillable potions rather than constantly having to craft new potions, for example).

Now that seems just as complicated /convoluted/grey as a Witcher book. But I would still never hand over anyone to Nilfgaardians. They are after my Ciri !!!
But good to see they are following the books in spirit , although they are not telling the same stories .

CDPR have said that the author of the books was not involved in the story of Witcher 3. From interviews it's easy to tell that they are all big fans of the books and the Witcher universe. In a way I'm happy I'm coming to this game with no preconceived baggage or expectations. Most games disappoint in this regard although Shadow of Mordor was one that stood out in respect of the source material.

I'm really looking forward to this game. The weekend following release is a bank holiday weekend here in the UK and I've managed to get some leave so I have 10 days in which to dive in, which I know this is nowhere near enough time to even rush through the story - particularly as I'm the worst for getting distracted in open world games.

Come on 19th May, come on...

A lot of people have played this now and the combat system is often described as being somewhere between Assassin's Creed and Arkham Knight. Swordplay is generally described as being very fluid, as are ranged and magical attacks. Many have said the dodge and counter system are tricky to master but counter systems in general, other than AC, are often described as being tricky. I think it's generally a case of learning the visual cues and mastering then over time.

Just looking at videos of Witcher 2 and Witcher 3 and watching the man in action, the latest game looks more flowing and fluid.

Eww! AC and AK reference....these games have the wordt combat system ever created (imo of course)...I hope W3 doesn't share anything with these games :(

Counting days to my biggest life challenge yet! How to run a business and find time to play W3 ... obvious one is trading sleep for gaming :p
I feel I will be still on my first play-through this time next year!

Another difficult decision for me will be which language I should play this game with? Native Polish as previous games or English because of Charles? Just so you know some of the jokes in previous games made a lot more sense in Polish.
Decisions, decisions, decisions!

Microsoft used stunning in-game PC footage trying to pass it as Xbox footage.

That happened days ago as well but woah, that's quite an accusation! I think a simpler explanation is that Microsoft used footage which originated (and only exists) in 60fps grab from the PC game on their Xbox channel. Nowhere do claim the footage is from the Xbox One version.

And perhaps you've not heard of Windows Xbox Games.

I think it was the fact that the video had the Xbox logo plastered all over it that made it seem like they were trying it on. Now I see they have made the disclaimer that 'it may not accurately reflect XBox game play'.
