The Witcher 3 : Wild Hunt ! [XO, PS4, NX, PS5, XBSX|S, PC]

That happened days ago as well but woah, that's quite an accusation! I think a simpler explanation is that Microsoft used footage which originated (and only exists) in 60fps grab from the PC game on their Xbox channel. Nowhere do claim the footage is from the Xbox One version.

And perhaps you've not heard of Windows Xbox Games.
Well, I did... But the most hilarious part is some of the comments from some unaware fans saying "the PS4 version looks better".

Most likely.

It's still misleading considering it's the Xbox channel. There's an existing general perception of what "Xbox" is.

If they knew before-hand, they ought to have been clearer in the description, but one sometimes wonder if marketing folks have any idea about the technical differences that niche forums bicker about tirelessly.

So yeah, it could just as easily been, "here's the video CDPR PR provided. Ok. Upload. Oh. CDPR PR didn't mention it was PC. Oops. Intarweb attributes malice because intarwebshot and oot-rageon"

Miscommunication is easy enough.

Now I see they have made the disclaimer that 'it may not accurately reflect XBox game play'.

It says "In game footage provided by CD Projekt Red, captured on a PC."

Probably watching it on their netbook with super 1024 x 600 display. Youtube might do 1080 but plenty of budget laptops don't and they probably have no idea.... ;)

Interesting find on GAF here about MSI advertising DX12 on W3 and Arkham Knight.

The wording reads like an assumption, but apparently they did say they'll think about it. I imagine it'll be... a while.

Unfortunately the DX12 support is not possible, because players wouldn’t be able to use it right now. As will be available to the general public, I’m sure that we’ll think about it.

Another interview posted the same day said there was "no current plan", which... is not really contradictory per se.

Soooooooooooooooo don't hold your breath.

...........eh.
Enhanced Edition if they intend to continue with that nomenclature. I wouldn't mind that, I really should clear up my backlog.

Hopefully not too many bugs to be fixed as is. ;p I ended up setting aside TW2 for maybe 2 years since I had no idea how to play properly and the UI was utterly crap (still is in a few ways), and... bugs.

There's planned DLC expansions for TW3 as well, so... I'll wait for the complete edition this time around.

I think it was the fact that the video had the Xbox logo plastered all over it that made it seem like they were trying it on.
The logo represents the Xbox YouTube channel. Like I said above Xbox is not just a console, it's now Microsoft's gaming brand which also exists on Windows.

I want to do the same, lol. Plus see some benchmarks. However, I'm not going to lie when I say its been hard resisting this hype train. This and Arkham Knight. If I can hold onto some self control and follow my values, by the time I complete my backlog both of these games will release in full proper form with all DLC at a fraction of the cost.

Yeah. Minimum I'll wait will be the next gen GPUs, but even so... still have some backlog on 360 from GwG. In the meantime, I have an MMO to "finish" on PC.

They perhaps need to educate the interwebs to this and train people not to associate the XBox brand with the console. Me included - I see that logo on that video and correlate it with MS's console, not their cross-platform software platform.

You're living in the past, grampa! Buy a Windows 8 PC and embrace the future of gaming :yep2:

BTW, the meaning of "gay" has also changed! So while you can say you're having "a gay old time" with your Windows 8 PC running Xbox Games, I wouldn't:runaway:

Well yes. There is a general perception of what that means though, and I don't think Xbox is yet synonymous with PC gaming in general since that is more recent.

It's not Windows Games = Xbox Games, and they still list Windows as being different. It's not the same thing as your example. Even the Windows page is buried in the "Games" pull-down. It's not featured on the main page otherwise.

But I'm still skeptical for Microsoft to release xbox games on xbox multiplatform (pc, tablet).

They has been saying 'we support pc gaming wholeheartedly' every year and they break that promise every year.

This is true but that doesn't mean we should reject the acceptance and meaning of branding just because it's not universally known. If everybody did that, no brand would ever gain traction to be accepted.

No-one's saying that. Only that MS hasn't managed to change their branding yet, which is their fault. If they want us to associate an XBox logo with console and PC gaming, they need a decent PR campaign to achieve that, especially when they already trained everyone to associate the brand with the console discretely from PC. This video and public response is proof of that. ;)

I'm not denying they have a perception problem but Microsoft began their branding shift at their Windows 10 event and there's obviously the Xbox app for Windows 8 and WindowsPhone. Rome, nor the evolved Xbox rebranding, could be built in a day but having already made a song and dance (albeit a small song and dance - how many people watched the event I wonder) I don't think Microsoft marketing want to pussyfoot about as though none of that happened - it would be like they're acknowledging the rebranding didn't happen or that nobody cared enough to watch the event.

I personally think they're better off just sticking with it until people become aware. Perhaps talking about things like this will actually help.

Yep. They need to talk about their choices and repeat ad nauseum that XBox as a brand is more than just the console now, including reference to existing and future plans. That's the only way to change its meaning. Although that does put them in a pickle regards speaking about console stuff rather than XBox in general, unless they literally ditch XBox exclusives and everything XBox is cross-Windows.
