You know, it really helps to sit down and actually draw out your stages, or ideas for sections, before you tackle the "building" part of the game. Honestly, it's absolutely overwhelming when you jump into "My Moon". You go through dozens of tutorials, and then you sit back and think...what am I going to do now? You get dozens upon dozens of ideas with each new section, and have no idea what to do with them, lol.

After I sat back and crafted up my battle plan, it was like I was on a roll, creating away. Very awesome stuff, absolutely LOVE it.

You know what, I'm just thinking LBP is the perfect game to launch a new console generation with. The power of a next-gen machine can probably create some awesome new mechanics (water, particles, etc.) to fool around with and it would be an awesome tool to test your hardware with, make presentations, and so on.

Next version wouldn't have to be 2d limited either, could be full 3d to support an even larger range of game-types, integrate with party systems, Home, or what not. Then if you launch your console your first buyers won't be bored anytime soon! And you can split what you have in terms of first person development now over additional engine development (more mechanics, game types, etc.), art creation ('professional levels, some for free, some for sale'), services (all the other stuff like trophies, party systems, etc. that go beyond the LBP type stuff), and finally you'd have a section of developers that develop the stuff that falls outside the realm of what you can do with the LBP type interfaces (completely new tech, very specific new types of games, etc.).

May LBP be the first in a long line of ultimate sandbox style games ... !

Another trick from 3D modelling would be to sketch your design, scan it in, paste it on a backboard as a texture and build to fit. That'd also help for cutting profiles, you could trace a shape. In fact the texture could be pasted on different starting blocks of different materials, each piece cut out, and the whole assembled from the parts with the texture washed off. If you're not reknowned for your drawing skillzorz, you could scan in photos as templates. eg. Scan in a chimpanzee picture, paste onto a block of fuzzy material and a block of cloth. Cut the fuzzy material around the monkey's head. Cut the cloth material around the chimp's pale face. Stick the two pieces together.

I got an email from that spanish site and they gave me a code but when I goto put it in, it says invalid? What do I have to do to get it to work? Any ideas?

or if someone has a US code, I can trade them a European one?

Are you entering the code using a European account? It won't work with a U.S. account. So if you haven't created a European account yet ...

Of course I strongly disapprove of Americuns stealing our beta-keys, but once stolen, they shouldn't go to waste. ;)

Yea, it's just really really captivating when you finally sit down with the game and say "well, I've got all these tools available to me...what do I do now?".

It's kind of an eye opener, when you start thinking what kind of level design do I want, how can I capture the gamer, how am I going to pace this level? Is it all going to be intense platforming, lots of running, or will I throw in lots of puzzle work?

Either way, my mind is absolutely blown, and I can't wait to get off work today and dig into it some more.

F Europe! I just made an account in Europa and downloading now :D

All your keys are belong to us!

I'm trying to apply stickers on the cardboard in the walk through. It won't let me apply the shoes stickers and thus I can't progress. Any ideas?

Yea, you have to wait until after the tutorial to end for it to register, at least that's what it seems like. Actions taken before the tutorial is over will just screw it up...which stinks!

Awesome!

That's a lot more cool than my clock! :) But for you Shifty, at least this one is in edit mode so you can see some of the mechanics:

I also fooled around a bit with texturing using eyetoy images and the 'corner edit tool' (for creating the bird). Works pretty good, both. Also I discovered that some candles I got from someone's level are actually rather powerful lamps.

(!) Wow, Arwin, Quaz51 and deepbrown, you guys are amazing. Way ahead of me right now.

Have you tried the "Heist" levels ? It's my all time favorite because he could weave a convincing story out of the platforming. Try "Heist Part 2" if you only have time for one. I don't know if there's a Part 3.

I made this for Shifty but whoever wants it, it's a quick run-through of the beta edit tools with my lousy explanations. ;) It stops suddenly because my camera sort of went into powersave or something, but most stuff is on there I think.

Sorry if rapidshare sucks, I haven't used it in a while ...

After spending about 5 hours with it today, I'd have to say, content creation means 0 to me and it'd be fun to play a user made level on occasion but it's the actual single player I want to know about. Is there a story of any sort and how many levels? I'll be strictly looking for that feedback in the reviews. I'm basically looking for SMG level platforming and single player.

The game itself is rather cute with lots of options but I'm not the type to sit there and make a level in any game, ever. I just like to play the game. User made levels are cool. I played Heist 1 and Hiest 2. Both were good but still can't hold a candle to the actual game levels in terms of presentation. I'm sure some nutjobs will put even more effort in! but still that's a crap shoot.

One weird thing I noticed. There seems to be some sort of motion blur and it's really distracting once I noticed it. It's not resolution loss on the set.
