I'm wondering if we're going to see some dedicated creation, sharing, tips/tricks, etc threads for LBP? I could imagine 1 single LBP thread getting extremely messy with users asking questions, giving general impressions, giving level impressions, sharing videos, describing their own levels, and so on.
It depends on use, and we'll see. If there's just a few people offering their levels for viewing, this thread'll suffice, or close this one and start a fresh one for the released game. If a big community effort appears, that'd be better handled in official LBP forums - we don't want a dozen threads all about the same one game here!

I've seen that camera angle before in a beta-created music level vid. I'm wary that it'll be in game, but this suggests it will be. I don't know when it'll come into effect though, whether there are camera control options or not. We've also seen 'extreme close-ups' but watching solo gameplay videos, like the E3 Construction video, the camera is quite wide.

It does reinforce the advertising potential of this game though. It'd be a good medium for corporate promotional efforts (though whether that's a good thing or not...).

Shifty, which video are you referring to above ? Do you have the link ?

EDIT:
EDIT

You're right, my mistake. I can see why they separated them, two very different purposes (and thus 2 very different designs).

Ah, yes. Reading back I guess I wasn't very clear.

It took me a while to realize there are 2 sites too.

I presume patsu's talking about the other clip with off-camera angles ;) Checking my LBP Movie Databse, where every LBP movie is saved, filed away and tagged with source links and keywords...

Oh right, I don't have one. I'll, um, go Internet searching. Not GT, which has a limited selection. Probably YouTube then. Right, Search for LittleBigPlanet on YouTube and the thumbnails nicely highlights the clip...

Definitely look like an in-game feature. After all, they don't use anything the world at launch isn't going to have, at least in theory.

By golly, I actually missed a LBP video. It looks like in-game feature to me too.

The game concept and scope looks insanely great so far. MM, please polish your game thoroughly. I think the latest feedback in Kodako is valid. You have one shot at the "Game made by God" title. :p

I had a quick look on Kotaku, but am unsure which feedback you're referring to patsu...

But that's an aside. Just saw Alex Evans on Playr (the new version of Gamer TV on UK cable/satellite) and they had a clip of him speaking after the Brighton event where he said all they're doing is polishing: we've got a list of bugs on a board... some days it goes down and some days it goes up... when it's at zero we're ready to go - or words to that effect.

BTW, I'm not trying to suggest LBP won't make it's Oct launch date. :)

I don’t know how long it took for me to build that sombrero car, but it took a lot longer than I thought it would, and it didn’t even look like something I wanted to save and share with my friends.
Such is the nature of creation! Creating anything requires familiarity with the tools, and patience. I can understand the guy's frustration, but not working through the tutorials is like trying to work a complex widget without reading the instructions. 'Accessible' sadly doesn't involve reading people's minds, and the people will still need to think according to the ways the tools permit them. I hope the structure of the game (apparently you need to complete all 60 levels or tutes before you're allowed to create anything) ensures people aren't put off when it comes to trying to make their stuff.

I also wonder if the nature of the create in game still exists? There's a separate creation phase now, though still interactive. Can you, while playing, pull up Popit and buils stuff in levels? Early talk was of levels having user-creation areas where the player might be required to build a bridge or tank or solution to an obstacle. And 'sponge/fluff' was going to be a payment system for how much you could build. There's been no word on this since, and no showing whatsoever of creating stuff in levels. I do hope that's still in as it was unique gamepaly, the player having to build their own solutions.

Isn't there a specific example of this somewhere, having to apply stickers to a doll in the middle of a level to open a gate?

Nah... I think it's still available in-level as well as a separate building phase. I believe they mentioned it before, but don't ask me to go hunt for the link... coz that was long ago.

As for accessibility, I can't decide what I want yet. Need to see the editor before everything clicked in my mind. I am sure we will see an avalanche of feedback, whining and praises to go with it. In the mean time, I still think they should include a superglue tool for noobs to stick anything acceptable together, including 2 Sack Boys or Girls.

*Groan*... that doesn't sound right but you get what I mean.

That's a switch type they've added. The specific example I recall was a tank in a very early demonstration. Alex Evans was talking about a point in a level where the players would have to navigate an obstacle, and they could think about building a bridge or something, and then one player could say 'hang on guys, I've got this great tank already built' and import it. They spoke of sponge being the currency, and you had to collect sponge to pay for building things. It was a sensible mechanic for a game where you could build any solution, creating a limit that would tax the players'.

How long ago, is what worries me? I can see a logical design process that would lead to the open in-game creation being dropped. They haven't mentioned 'fluff' being a currency since the earliest days when it was called 'sponge'.

Media Molceule is just down the road in Guildford, above a bathroom store. I should be able to find it easily enough. Maybe I can offer Alex or friends a coffee at Nero's and encourage them to spill?!

LBP Official (US) site is up, and integrated with PSN.

The animated Flash banner (featuring the waving Sackboy) at the top of the page is customizable with stickers, using a GUI reminiscent of the in-game version. Just click on the Sackboy to bring up the menu.
Man, that is so damn Cute ! Sackboy is the sweetest protagonist in any game that I have liked( of course). I don't tend to like cute games at all.Gaming for me is usually a lonely guy in a harsh world, but LBP is so damn sweet :p!

The neogaf thread is such an inspiration ! I really hope this game rocks the world and changes the rules of gaming!

I agree completely. Every tool seems dauniting at first and a limited demo time does not help either. When this game arrives, I expect myself to try and make the most complex gizmo immediatley, but, of course, it is not going to work. The ideal path would be to play the whole campaign, get introduced to all the aspects and possibilities of the game, and I expect that the whole campaign will also double up as a tutorial for creating stuff, atleast MM should plan the game that way.The whole point of the game is to let the player swell with pride over his creation :p! and the campaign should be a step by step journey towards that final goal.

Everything apart, I LOVE the SACKBOY !

My 3 minute creation ;)

I thought you only needed to play the first few tutorial levels to get the creation tools?
Well, it's uncertain to me at the moment. One article/podcast somewhere that I heard recently said specifically that you had to play either the entire game or the quick tutorials before you could create. Of course this is only as accurate as the journalist's journalistic integrity is developed...

Okay, found a podcast that mentions it, 1up Yours (ay corumba, I can't believe people want to listen to this much mindless babble!), 1st August edition (or 8th of January edition in Foreign Calendar). About 34 minutes in they start talking about LBP. "You have to finsih the entire first story world before you can start customizing yourself." I stand corrected, the first Story World, not the entire story. Though they don't mention the tutes, so I think some other article explained things differently.

I guess this proves that level editing and object creation is still a part of the story mode as initialy suggested by MM, otherwise completing the first world would be no help in showing you how to use the creation tools. This is good news as i havent actually seen it done in any of the videos ive seen recently. It has the potential to turn relatively simple platforming gameplay into something very special.

Wow! The video........its so beautiful !!! It is so soothing and calming.!Thanx patsu for posting it.

I hope Media Molecule integrate LBP with the net.

For example, integrating/associating Youtube video within the level and on the new community site will help casuals relate better to the game and "messages". Even playing games over a webpage (like The Last Guy's promo website) can make things interesting and informative at the same time.

In this case, the dancers are all deaf (and mute, according to some people), so an instructor has to lead them by dancing beside the stage so they are on the beat.
