Just shows how important it is to throw the best parties.... This game could turn the tide in the console war :)

Seems to me that titles like GT5P and MGS4 may have already done so, given Sony's tremendous increase in sales this year, actually leading the 360 by a fair amount now (units sold year-to-date).

I totally agree. And I hope for everyone's sake Sony capitalise on the fact that these little bastards market themselves (being so cute an' all). I'm immune though.

Yeah, their marketing is below standard this generation, with games basically selling themselves without a big marketing campaign. But if they want to appeal more to families, this is the perfect game to do it.

I've fallen victim to their cuteness already, I don't think I can remove that smile from my face.:D

Fantastic music. My gosh this game is ... can't wait til October!

It gets even better than that...

According to recent comments by David Reeves, president of SCEE, that's what's planned for the upcoming community-driven platformer. "What we're trying to do with LittleBigPlanet is almost iTunes meets eBay in the sense that once an individual or a developer has qualified by producing certain levels or certain add-ons, they will then be able in the future to exchange these and make money out of them,"

Not sure whether and what DRM system they are going to use. This just brings my interest level way way up. Smart up and complete the Game 3.0 vision quickly guys.

This boss battle stuff is pretty convincing that there'll be a lot of possibilities in LBP. The devs must prepare it to recreate the original Super Mario levels within the game... how much fun would that be? :)

Nintendo won't like that though! And most likely, they will put a stop to it too though who knows.

I was thinking last night Manic Minor levels could be created almost perfectly using the grid system. But then you have copyright infringement. A lot of content would likely 'borrow' from existing IPs. I expect plenty of Dalek-a-likes and the sort. Still, for those that are feeling a little more adventurous, old-skool platformers could be knocked up double-quick time I'm sure. Just don't have brick ledges and mushrooms!

But would it be possible to create the best-ever-never-equalled-in-25-years high-score table animation and entry system of its amazing sequel Miner 2049er? I think the high-score entry system might, though of course it would have to be gameplay. But the intelligent birds picking up the letters and putting them up somewhere at the right place, now that might be difficult.

Other than that though - yes, I think this kind of game is something that could be interesting to recreate with LBP!

Eh? Am I missing something. That's got nothing to do with Manic Miner. The sequel to Manic Miner was, of course, Jet Set Willy.

I am more interested in how they indeed to enable this consumer-make-money feature. At first I thought they were going to cut Blu-ray discs based on user created levels, and may be make them downloadable via PSN too. However Reeve's comment hinted at a eBay-like service. So this will be true consumer-to-consumer trading ?

If so, I hope they can approach it with a more general angle (e.g., Make Unreal Tournament mods easy to access and payable too).

If people have to pay for user-created levels, it will go nowhere.

It doesn't work like that.

A user will have create a number of very high-quality levels, that will get good ratings. MM will then look at the levels to see whether that person would be able to charge a small amount for any new level that person creates. If they are enabled to charge, they will only be able to do so on their future creations.

Thus, high quality free levels will still exist.

Ah, you're right! The game I am thinking of isn't even Miner 2049er, but the sequel Bounty Bob Strikes Back. I was confused because MIner 2049er is listed among the See Also games that also have the real sequels and such ... I think the gameplay might be similar though, so it's not like they have nothing to do with each other ;) - not to mention the title, though apparently the lead is actually a Mounty ... lol.
