Relief: It seems that they will have a fairly to very strong 2008, but the problem is that anything that is now a year away could still be a year away when we get there.
The reasons are that some major ps3 titles have either missed dates (ie GTAIV) or been just not all that good (ie Lair), the number of ps3 releases doesn't seem really low for a consoles release year (although I've not looked at a graph to compare) but the quality just hasn't been there where it matters. As to why dates have been missed you can go with all kinds of theories from hard to code for to low install base causing developers to hold back.
The implications are that they could fall well behind the competition in console sales, potentially leading to the loss of exclusives and/or lack of support from 3rd party developers which leads back to falling console sales. Obviously all this can affect profitability, which long term could affect their future console development plans.
