Lost amongst the buzz from Gears of War and Dead or Alive 4 during E3 was the quiet announcement of a Tetris game for the Xbox 360. Japanese publisher Arika announced via its website that it will be bringing the Tetris: The Grand Master arcade series to the system. Tentatively titled T4, the Xbox 360 title will be an original entry in the series and will feature Xbox Live competitive play.

No way! My mom stole my GB also to play Tetris LOL!

Anyhow, this is what I am talking about. All the consoles need more Tetris, Wetris, Dr. Mario, Lumines, Card games (Hearts, Spades, Poker, whatever), Bombmer man, Zelda: 4 Swords, Animal Crossing, Nintendogs, etc... type games.

You put some of those games for free (as MS plans to) online and I think you expand the gaming audiance. I hope to see MS/Sony/Nintendo do more of this.

Actually yes it can... ATI did verify that it is capable of 1080p resolution and while 720p will provide free 4xMSAA, 1080p will have a minimal performance impact (roughly 5% from what I understand)... techinically so can the original XBox system. The XBox, XBox360 and the Playstation 3 all have a maximum resolution of 1920x1080, granted such a resolution would take a large chunk of memory on the original XBox... though when dealing with simple 2D games you don't need much. Microsoft simply stated that 720p is the DEFAULT resolution that they expect all XBox360 games to maintain... they are not allowed to go lower in native rendering resolution (it will upscale or downscale according to the user mode), but developers are free to go higher (1080i or 1080p) if they desire.

The GameMaster...

I think it was stated that 720p will be the maximum output resolution on Xbox360. It has to do with the MS-desinged hardware.

So far I have not heard any solid information on whether it outputs 1080i natively of if it scales 720p to 1080i.

ATI did say the R500 can output 1080p to the framebuffer. The current hangup is the WebTV Groups scaler chip. It only supports 1080i and 720p currently and analog output.

everyone else: I told you so. :p

So we can have 4kx4k textured tetris blocks? :D
but the webtv display chip can't , it can only go up to 1080i analog . Mabye ms can quickly change this who knows

Normal mapped, HDR rendered menu interface would be nice. I think the cubes should have volumetric 3D textures created from shaders.

Perhaps software ray-tracing.

OK ill shut up now !!!!!! god damn you.

I hope it's 60fps.

LOL you have to wait months for the codings to mature. As of now, it can run 30% of the system's current capability.

Speaking of Tetris, I used to play my bro's gaming unit and hide under the bed! The good ol' days!
