The first 24-pipe card is the 3Dlabs Realism 800?!?!?!

I only looked @ it hap-hazardly but... it's a dual gpu system... are they adding the memory & gpu features up to come up with these numbers or does each gpu have 24 pipes and a 512 bit bus? I'd be impressed if that was the case.

I wish I could know how much of a difference the 512-bit bus makes over the 256-bit bus. :?:

Besides, two 12-pipe chips on the same chip/core is different from two 12-pipe chips on the same card.

What's the difference from that & one chip/core with 24 pipes?

Looking at the diagram at Anand it looks like the 512bit bus is a load of BS. Each VPU just has a 256bit memory bus, which adds to 512bit in a twisted sort of way. Of course that makes sense considering what I've heard around here on the difficulty of implementing a 512bit bus.

That said, the performance of the card does look quite impressive and the pricing is very competetive with the Quadro.

It's something how NV can retool a gaming card into something that can destroy or match 3dlabs "professionals-only" cards....

Heh, but does anyone else have a problem with paying 2x more for a coupl'a resistors and some different drivers?

couldn't there be an argument that each quad on on the current highend cards be limited too only a 64bit mem bus via the crossbar ondie?
Is their a cross bar tieing the 512 bus together or does each vpu have a dedicated 256bit bus? Sounds ok too me. better than an intel dual cpu system if it is dedicated.

With a 512-bit bus, too.

Well, I didn't see this one coming.
That's strange, considering it was announced mid-2004 :D
There are two separate 256-bit and one 128-bit memory interface on the card, one for each chip.
Presumably, each interface is split into multiple channels again.

Yeah, the first 24 pipe card was an nvidia sli on one board then I suppose, and there is already a 32pipe as well :p

Their solution currently gets terrible gains considering, I am still wondering if ATI's solution will be a significant amount better...
