    Agreed. Leeds castle is very pleasant.
    Though if you can't spare the time for that, you can visit a "French Chateau" in Buckinghampshire.

    Very nice it is too. :)

    There's also Cliveden in Maidenhead, which is the same deal except with an Italian twist and spiffing views of the river. Top hole, what what.

    Yup - well, the family is. Not quite sure how that works. I haven't been to Cliveden either - just going on good reports from other people.

    It might be rubbish. :D

    For fishing, sailing, mountain biking and a trip to Battle to see where the Saxons lost England to the the Norman bastards, Bewl Water is a worth a visit.

    Yorkshire is far prettier than the south :p Especially York and the Dales. Hills add to scenery.
