Soul Calibur 4 (yes, SC FOUR~IV) for Xenon and Revolution?

actually it is going to be either Soul Calibur III or IV on Xenon and Revolution

http://xbox.ign.com/articles/601/601711p1.html

ironicly, even though that is an IGN Xbox article, they mention the possibility of SC III or IV landing on the next gen Nintendo, which obviously means Nintendo Revolution, even though they didn't say *Revolution* by name........hey, it *is* IGN *Xbox*, afterall

The reasons Namco didn't bring its top-tiered fighting game to other systems are reasonable, making perfect financial sense: There are simply more PS2s than Xboxes or Cubes in the market.

There's your answer, people who were arguing in the other SCIII thread. I won't say I told you so.

Quality rules Quantity overall, and SCII for the GC had Link, which has a larger fanbase than Tekken (A better character overall). Its like Halo fanboys that buy everything Halo related, except this is Link. However, business firms dont always throw quality in the equation and focus on a facet that earns the quickest buck.

They all sold real similar numbers though, all around 500k. I think, considering the quality of the series, it should be a multi-million unit seller.

But even though there are more ps2s , soul caliber 2 sold better on the gamecube .

Some people can't get over that fact though needing to rationalize why it would not make sense to release it on Xbox and GCN too.

Regardless it seems SC is coming to Revolution and Xenon so I'm really looking forward to hearing more rationalizaions from those same people. ;)

SC on Xenon and Revolution is gonna OWN! 8)

Does this hint at similarities between Rev and XB hardware, on a programming level, for an easy port? Or is it just a case of 'on so many PS2s it didn't sell to a high percentage'?

Well that news isn't very specific, basically it only says that Soul Calibur will return on Next gen. But considering that IBM and ATI parts are found on both systems, maybe porting is easier on next gen.

Do I understand right, but are some people thinking Soul Calibur 4 is coming only on xenon and Revolution, not on PS3?
It is (if ever there is going to be a next gen SC) coming to all next gen consoles, isn't it?

I would guess xenon because of its 05 release and then mabye the ns5 as there wont be any other fightng games save smash bros . Where as the ps2 will have had this game already and the early adopters of the ps3 will most likely have bought it and wont have need to buy it again

at least tahts what i'm thinking

Yeah if it's SCIII then PS3 owners can still enjoy the PS2 version through BC. If it's SCIV then I'm sure all three nextgen consoles will get it.

jvd, my point was that the Gamecube version outsold the PS2 version in part because frankly, some PS2 owners opted for it instead - because it had Link, or it had slightly better graphics, or whatever.

I'm pretty sure GC is primarily a second system in a lot of PS2 households, and when a sweet deal like SCII with Link comes along, a lot of those gamers just can't resist.

Agree with me or disagree, that's the way I see it.

I think it has less to do with Link and more to do with a dearth of decent fighters on the Cube.

Well Kolgar we'll see how right you and Namco were when SCIII releases on PS2. If it sells closer to what SCII sold on PS2 alone (1.35 million worldwide) instead of what the game sold on all three platforms (4 million worldwide) then your theory didn't work out..

SC3 will NOT sell that much in the US alone. Ever. PS2 is so saturated with fighters, whose sales numbers have been declining ever since Tekken Tag, that it's almost impossible.

I agree london-boy, people who think putting Link in a game sells 1.4 million copies of it worldwide on its own are fooling themselves. I've always said there was more to the sales of SCII on GC then that. One of the big reasons, as you mention, being that GC lacks quality fighting games of a similar style to SC.
