Sony's new TV Ad Campaigns

Good ads, but can be even better !

They need to make people immediately recognize the differences (The games are still not too obvious to many shoppers). I hope they reserve some slots for MotorStorm, PS Eye and even the LittleBigPlanet beta. It's a pity the PS Eye one would be less impactful since it's not usable beyond EoJ.

I would also do a longer but concise video to go through the salient features. In that one, i will include third party games like CoD4.

I like their art direction and visual story telling, incoporating the dragon from Lair in the black shapes, octopuss arms for it's multifunctionality and so on. And the soundtrack kicked ass too hehe

Six way video chat, headset-replacement, integration with Burnout Paradise, Singstar and I'm sure a few other upcoming games, 4 minigames and quite a few cool video editing features and effects in the free EyeCreate software ... But I wouldn't be surprised if PS Eye gets some separate attention.

Sony Computer Entertainment America is due to launch one of its biggest advertising campaigns this weekend as it introduces the new 40GB PlayStation 3 to the US market.

For the first time the PlayStation Network service is to be one of the key messages behind the marketing push, along with the console's Blu-ray capabilities, the new price point and the line-up of available software.

I hope they have more diversity than just "We're well 'ard whack-bam-pow in-your-face up-your-nose." That's important for attracting the usual gamers, but IMO their best target is the family unit - Buy PS3 as something for the whole family. Include all the weird stuff like designing your own clothes and optical camera games. Cast the net as wide as possible.

these ads are very cool and pass their message pretty well. If these are combined with their other "drawing" ad I think they will be even more effective at passing the message.

Think so? Cant know since I am a PS3 owner. Perhaps we can experiment the ad on some non-PS3 owners :p

Great ads! I hope they do focus more on the PSN because it's a cool selling point. Very creative, pumping, and great use of the Saliva track (I keep thinking WrestleMania when I hear that song!).

I hope it's the beginning of the resurgence for the PS brand. I sure hope so.

WOW

I've now seen several of these new ads in some very high profile USA tv show adverts and I must say... VERY well done and exciting ads.

really captures the fun of the system and showcases the fact that YES there are games out now that are fun to play and that's what this machine does (and BluRay too) at a new low starting price.

the original white room ads were the old (arrogant ;)) "yea, the new Playstation is here... you know you want it.. ... hello... you want it right?... right?!... oh chit... we'd better sell the sizzle again. ":p

the new ones are better than any 360 ad I've ever seen which also try to capture the same feeling with "Jump In".

This is sort of strange, and/or interesting, but over here (Ireland), Sony seems to be running a big poster and bus-ad campaign for...The Simpsons Game. I haven't seen so many bus-stop and train station posters for a game since Halo3 launched. I'm guessing they're at least partially Sony funded because only Playstation logos feature at the bottom. It'll be interesting to see if they do this for any other games, The Simpsons seems a strange choice.

I did also notice a billboard for PS3 @ 399 also..seems to be an extension of the US TV ads, since it shares the same morphing black thing-y, but in this one, there's a big giant eyeball coming out of it.
