Sony Gamescom 2013 conference

Yes.

33 titles before the end of 2013. 20+ Exclusives and 8+ new IP's. That's more than enough to keep any decent gamer happy!

Maybe I have lost something (I was out for vacation!) so please correct me if I am wrong.
The "actual" AAA exclusive launch lineup of PS4 is compose by:

-) Killzone (launch)
-) Infamous (first 6 month ?)
-) Driver Club (launch)
-) Knack (launch)
-) The Order (2014 TBA?)

To me, this is a weak exclusive launch line up.
Maybe it is just my feeling, but for PS4, differently from PS2 & PS3, I have not even the anticipation for future next to be released games, because nothing as been announced yet for PS4! I know there will be Santa Monica e Naughty Dog, but at the moment we have pratically nothing to dream on!

In the 33 games you are citing, you are counting also the multiplat games?
Which are these 8 new AAA IPs? Or you are also counting indie and PSN games?

Considering that:
1) I am not that much into indie games (or the vast majority of PSN games), as I will not going to spend 399 euros just to play indie or PSN games that I could play somehow on PS3/X360!
2) Knack is not for me... (just to use an euphemism...)
3) I have never bought a racing games (except GT3 on PS2), I will not start with Driver Club...

My disapointment is because 2014 seems to be a very weak year for me as PS4 owner!
And my fear is that Santa Monica e Naughty Dog games are faaar away (end of 2014? 2015?)!

In short I fear the same old Sony platform launch (as it was for PS2 & PS3)... That is why I am disappointed!

Nobody ever tried to clarify whether that number was European or American only, or whether that was a worldwide figure. It's not beyond belief that, with it being GC, only European figures were mentioned.

It's beyond belief. Far beyond belief. The million number was certainly world-wide.

The PS4 launch line-up is strong enough to sell every unit that Sony makes this year.

Again, What is an "actual" game? Second, these games are not out yet, how can they be "weak"?

Why would you feel this launch is weak compared to any other, now or in the past? Did you go hog wild with COD2 and King Kong in 2005? Was Resistance and RR the best launch ever?

Sony is not going to crowd the launch, they did that with the Vita. They are going to give room for 3rd party heavy hitters from each big publisher room to shine (COD, BF4, AC:BF, WD), while adding a slew of F2P games along with a variety of DD games. They seem to have more of a selection and variety than any launch I have seen. They also have all their 1st party devs working on PS4 games, so the games won't dry up any time soon.

As with any console launch, there's a limited library as the console company decided where to invest its money and has to compromise. It all comes down to personal preference. What sort of games would Airon like to see? Console launches aren't for everyone. Heck there'll only be a tiny fraction of the total sale available in the first year, so there's no much point in creating your ultimate super-attractive game that'll sell to every console owner when that's 1 million peeps instead of 20 million 18 months after launch (you hope!).

I ask you, which are the exclusive games that are you looking to play in the next year and half on PS4?
Which are the exclusive AAA games that makes you dream and that will push you in the next 3 month to spend 399 euros just to purchase the new system?

My answer, at the moment, maybe, is just "The Order", a game for which I have seen only an in-game cutscene trailer!!! Nothing more!
And even further, (I really hope I am wrong) but also "The Order" seems more a games for late 2014...

I remember clearly at the time of PS3 launch we have a pile of titles announced (many never released to be honest...). But at least at the time of PS3 launch we had something to dream of... Something for the future...

Again, to me, it seems that 2014 will be a disappointing year for me as a PS4 owner.

In truth, I was expecting more from Sony, for sure, not to find myself 2 month before launch to say "where are my AAA games, where are my new AAA core IPs????"

The only thing missing from launch is Ridge Racer.

The main genres are catered for, just because you think the games are weak means nothing.

You haven't played them (No one has played them in finished form either), no one has reviewed them so this opinion is baseless.

The GAMES are not weak (well, maybe Knack...)!
How can I judge games that I still have to play?

The overall line up in terms of AAA exclusives, new AAA IPs, future AAA games etc.., for me, is weak, really really weak !

I'm actually most looking forward to see their PS3 back-compat Gaikai service in 2014.

For PS4 specific titles, probably Second Son first. Need to see other KZSF levels first to form a final opinion on that game.

You are not including anything by third parties in your theory. Ac4 FIFA cod bf4 are all due on or around launch so I don't see a problem at all.

But those are not exclusive to the PS platform. I think that is his point.

Clearly, multiplat games have zero incidence in my reasoning.

Personally, I chose a platform, I choose to pay the full price for it, and I chose to even assume the risk of some hardware failure (more typical in first released hardware) especially at launch, exclusivelly for the exclusive titles!

If you're not comfortable to commit yet, just wait it out. ^_^

Even if you stop your PS+ subscription, you get your old free games back when you resubscribe.

Why has it got to be exclusive games one's looking forwards to? Anyone looking forward to playing BF4 or the next COD or The Division will have to buy a $399 PS4 or a $499 XB1 or some PC solution. That's reason enough for lots to buy a PS4. As long as a box is providing you the content you enjoy it doesn't matter whether it's exclusive or not.

Yes but as you can play this games on both the platforms, to me, are the exclusive that makes the differences!

It is strange to me to choose PS4 just to play COD or BF4 as, if I have to say, I can play it way better on my PC!

AAA exclusive, to me, makes the real differences!

Well, Sony has first party studios. They will have exclusive games.

If AAA exclusives are important to you, I don't know why you pick a PC. I thought the PC platform is mostly great for high end cross-platform titles and indies.

That's true, but you know the exclusives, or types of, that the PS4 is going to be getting. If you want those ND and Santa Monica games along with your PS4, you buy a PS4 knowing they'll turn up and play the cross platforms until then. If you value MS's exclusives, you buy an XB.

If you already have a gaming PC, don't get a PS4 until there are games you want and buy it cheaper. I don't really see a dilemma here!
