Sony E3 2009 Keynote Thread

Nice ! The thing is based on ultra-sonic emitter like what the patent says ? The tracking is pretty snappy and also workable in the dark if true.

I actually want to see a follow up of that drawing game.

But true, this is much more responsive in comparison than what microsoft is doing.
Damn are they doing what they suggested with the Wii controller as the camera before?

Wow, really. This is interesting, and much, much more usable.

Honestly, dude, are you going to snark at everything? It's motion controls, of course it's stupid.
Not all motion controls are stupid. But demoing something that's CLEARLY very rough (far from final design) and limited to single-hand motion a day after your competitor shows full-body motion capture and voice recognition is just a bit sad.

They even just showed the paint demo...

And there. I have always said it's about the software. The sensors (ultra-sonic or infrared) can be obtained from China if you want.

The ability to fudge with the virtual world as if it's a real thing is what I was looking for (That 1-to-1 mapping). And also, the ability to do it without line-of-sight so I don't have to strain my posture into the camera view and TV frame (It's back breaking for my wife). The second one is tough.

Yeah, exactly like Modern Warfare 2. What's the Sony exclusive content for AC2? I didn't see anything in the feeds I'm following.

Integration with the PSP version, added weapons and maybe something else (but probably that's it). Everyone talks about games just because they're big games. MS did it with MW2 and FFXIII (and Thride, inexplicably), Sony did it with AC2.

Seriously, you call this rough?
They're demoing a possible RTS game with it already.

Yeah but thats what they have and cant do anything new in some days to match MS body motion system that is in a completly different ballpark. Better than nothing.

Are you seeing the same device as I do? They're crazy if they release that product as it looks now.

Edit: So they showed one of MS' demos that was less impressive (painting a wall) and another of Nintendo's (Archery).

I guess this is why you shouldn't go last.

But does that one have pointer functionality (as the writing seems to suggest)? Motion control has yet to be convincing as more than a gimmick. I'm not 100% sold on pointers (tracking the pointer isn't as clean as tracking a mouse pointer), but it is the most important innovation the Wii brought in controls. Motion controls can't replicate that, that I know of, not without an added peripheral -- like a wand with silly LED lights.

Usually they only mention multiplatform if they get exclusive content and the Eurogamer and Gizmodo feeds didn't mention exclusive AC2 content for PS3, so I was a little confused about why'd they'd spend so much time on it.
