So, XMen2 [ Warning: Spoilers ]

X-men2 was good I just saw it today.

I totally thought that they would just freeze the lake, but then well it was rather silly, but whatever.

'u-571'? *gag*... Also the base of ops at Lake Alkali they attack is in Alberta in the comics...

I like u571, who cares if they have accents?

This is an opinion so no one get worked up K

If a person was on a german submarine they would speak german, not english w/ a german accent, or english with russian accent. Personally I like it better when if they are going to speak english they just do, with no weird accent, however if it is a small portion, or makes sense, such as a russian in the US speaking english then yeah I can see what you mean but still.

lol, just got the whole jet thing, lol

At first I thought people were saying she was deliberately keeping the jet from taking off. But now I see that her powers were going crazy-like (like in the museum where all the tv's and stuff went haywire) and that's what was keeping the jet from powering up, so she had to get off the jet.

nono I didnt mean u571 as a ref to the missing accent in colossus. I meant it as a ref for wolverine. The u571 story showed yanks in the daring raid to trick the germans and capture a sub. The real event the movie was based on was done by brits. Wolv is canadian (well if you consider the origins comics that dealt with wolvies true origin it gets muddled... but he really was for the longest time a canuckian mutant) but the movie kinda hints hes not...

I havent seen X-men 2 yet, but what I can tell you about X-Men one, is that for starters they messed up Wolverine.

I mean the movie had a great start with the WWII scene. However as soon as Wolverine started to make fun of Professor X and called him wheels it ended for me. Thats just not his style. Wolvie is so much more macho to ever stoop that low. Plus when he pronounced storm he did it with an Australian accent another big nono.

Has anyone ever seen the movie Wolf with Jack Nicholson, now thats a great wolverine, (he is too bloody old but if he was young Jack would have been the best wolverine (think One Flew Over the Coockos nest young))

If mutants are 'genetic' in deviation from human, how is wolverine a mutant? (Assuming his only "mutation" is his bones). Though he does heal, also...

How/what did Stryker supposedly do to Wolverine in the comics?

Yeah, Wolverines mutation is his incredible regenerative abilies - to the point that they don't know how much he has aged. Logon's healing abilies is one of the few reasons why he could undergo the process of having the adamantium fused to his bones.

Wolverine past was always a mystery - it took years in the comics to find out as much as we have in two films. IIRC he was a bit pissed after the process the Stryker put him through and he remained in a feral rage for quite some time and still has little knowledge of his past. I don't know how he ended up there, but part of the reason he keeps his beserker rage in check is because of his martial arts training/oriental influence - that side of him isn't shown in the films at all.

[edit] Oh, he does also have heightened, almost animal like, senses. Its believed hes related to Sabretooth in some way. There was also a period in the comis where he lost is adamantium (gawd knows how!) and his claws were still there, made from bone.

Ok someone explain one other thing to me.

Have you ever seen a dam break, or the aftermath? Why was there a big lake, that is BS, if a dam breaks the water flows down the river, (with a lot of destruction) but it doesn't just sit there making a lake, what can their excuse for that possible be?

I stopped buying comics in late '85 but I had every single X-men book at that point. Sold 'em all for college money, which I now wish I'd instead taken out another loan. :(

I collected for about 5-6 years. Started just about the time of "the Fall of The Mutants" (just after that the X-Men had a great three issue story with the "Brood" aliens, one issue had an awesome cover with Wolverine half turning alien). Got about the first 50 issues of the Wolverine series as well.

The X-men and friends along with professor X attacked the asteroid --once Cable's base-- that was currently Magneto's base. During the assult, Magneto used his powers to rip the adamantium out of Wolverine's body, which also really hammered Wolverines healing abilities. I believe Wolverine ended up gain back his powers and the adamantium at some point. Later one some comics covered Wolverines background. But I only know that they exist, not what happened.

In northern canada\quebec some of the long rivers in the canadian sheild runs for hundreds or thousands of miles but drop maybe 100 feet and in some areas the water is so slow moving it resembles a lake... The water level was a lot lower after the dam broke anyhoo...

I saw the movie, Jean Gray didn't leave the movies, the phoenix just took over. Expect the next movies to rawk or they might even have a spin off Phoenix Saga, showing Phoenix ripping it up and the introduction of the Shiar. Then again, that might be considered a bit to OTT for non-enthusiasts/purists.

Awesome movie with a great lead in for X-Men3.

Anybody hope the Shiar Imperial Guard get to appear?

PS: I thought Cable's base was the orbital station known as Greymalkin?

Wasn't Greymalkin a time travel device?

IIRC the oribital base was called something else.

I think you are right there. It has been so many years since I read any comics and watched the anime but I think that you're right on this one.

It still didn't explain why she HAD to get out of the plane, other than a convinient way to kill her off. What suddenly fixed the plane?

But, that's just me. Still a reasonably fun movie.

Think a little please. If she had transformed into phoenix inside the plane what would have happened to the rest of the people inside?
Keywords: charred smoldering flesh

Also for those who say phoenix was brought out of nowhere, watch the beggining of the film. It starts with them in the museum with the exhibit talking about evolution. The evolution theme is scattered throughout the film everywhere. The plot is not completely spoon fed to the audience, which i find refreshing.

But in this movie she didn't transform into the pheonix. She just got washed away in the flood.

Assuming the next movie explains things, then it will fit well as a trilogy. It still doesn't mean that its explained well enough to stand alone in the second movie.

NO!

Watch the last few seconds of the film again. You can see here in the lake that formed after the dam broke. She is something like a white ghost in the water. Look closely.
