So, do we know anything about RV670 yet?

$1000 card costs, 350W TDPs.
To me, that's the believable part...

RV670 is a 132W board. 2 of those, on 55nm is going to be in the region of 250W. Do you expect R700 to be slower than 2xRV670? Do you think 45nm is coming soon enough for R700?

PCI Express 2 is 150W in the slot + each PCI Express 8 connector is 150W...

EDIT: due to your edit: if people are spending $1000 on a graphics card, do you think they're going to be put off by the power consumption? Clearly the proviso is that the performance is there...

Sure people will mind the machine sucking 1 KW from the socket and literally heating the room heavily. Of course there will be 3 must-have-the-fastest-thing chaps out there buying it, but it will never fly in the retail. Never, not in a 1000 years.

I started searching the Interntet and I found update information so it might be true that PCIE 2.0 specification is updated to 150W in Slot. (I probably read old article before) Sorry.

The new specification was finalised in January, which includes doubling the transfer rate from 2.5Gbps to 5.0Gbps and also doubling the amount of power that can be drawn through the slot to 150W. http://www.bit-tech.net/news/2007/05/22/pcie_2_to_arrive_by_christmas/1

I certainly don't expect R700 to be slower than RV670. I do recall specific statements about the R700 generation of products being much more power efficient, however.
 
Well, considering the slot is spec'd for 150 watts and a 1x8 (2x4) PCIE plug is spec'd for 150 watts. Someone at one or both of the major IHV's is expecting to push 150-300 watts at least. Designs don't generally change so drastically without some expectations of it's being used at some point in the future.

Is it going to be the R700 2, 4, 8, 2348795234 core card? Or maybe some monolithic Nvidia 1 million billion quadrillion transistor core? Who knows. I just know at some point in the next year or two I expect one or both of them to push out a high end card at some ungodly price pushing 300 watts or possibly even more.

Is it going to be a huge seller? Does it matter? In the quest for the ultimate high benchmarks on web reviews "sell ability" doesn't seem to matter one whit. All you need to do is look at the 7800 GTX 512. Reviews were still coming out based on that card even when you could no longer buy it. And proclaiming Nvidia the fastest in the land because of it. Even though...you know, you couldn't buy it except on Ebay.

So yeah, I fully expect ATI or Nvidia to release some monsterously large and impractical card for the sole purpose of proclaiming FPS godhood on review websites. Although with ATI's aparent focus on the mainstream and mainstream performance market, I'm not sure Nvidia will have to do much to claim the fastest ever e-penis crown.

AMD Radeon HD 3850 benchmarks available on 15 Nov 2007.
Early benchmark numbers using beta drivers shows that the HD 3850 (aka. PRO) with a Q6600 Quad Core processor scores around 10500 marks with beta driver.
The Radeon HD 3850 will be priced at around $199 to $249.

Weird prices, 3850 already 199-249$ than what price the hd3870 come?
 
Not if 8800 GT is $250 it won't be. Not unless AMD and their AIBs don't want to sell any cards in that price segment ;)

I said "the new 8800 GTS" (no, i'm not talking about the 112sp leftovers from the G80 core) ;)
We already know how much the 8800 GT will cost ($199 for the 256MB version and $249 for the 512MB one).
