Silent Hill 3 story......

Is it just me or does it seems so straight forward after what i experienced of SH2. I like what they did with SH2, you know each character seeing Silent Hill based on their inner feelings.

SH3 has you focusing on God and birth...? The story felt like a RE game, instead of zombies and evil coporations, you have mutated beasts and God...? Straightforward is alright though, at least i did not have to check the faqs to know the major plot.

PS. I have not played SH1.

So! Could you understand the story??? I never got a clue about SH1/2's stories and thats why probably I liked them ;)

Shouldnt be a prob. Very straight forward imo, so much so, it feels weird...i kinda agree with this GF review:

Storyline (4)

Unfortunately, the storyline in SH3 is a serious sticking point. Whilst SH2's storyline was engaging emotionally, dark, and mentally twisted, SH3's storyline is superficial and far-fetched. I found it extremely difficult to identify with Heather's plight, with all the talk about a god and the supernatural. It became increasingly difficult to remain engaged in the game as the plot wore on. SH3 represents a significant departure from the lofty heights of SH2's storyline. It almost seems to be a return to SH1's storyline - though it is beyond me as to why such a backward step would be taken with the series. Given the importance I place on storyline in a survival horror game, this fantastical plot has significantly affected my overall score for SH3. Certainly, I am prepared to accept that each person has their own ideas about what constitutes a satisfying story - so if you enjoy fanciful stories, this is for you. If, however, like me, James' descent into madness struck a chord with you, you will more than likely be disappointed by SH3.

My short review:

I give the game a 7.5.
-Nice action game.
-Nice efforts put in by KCET.
-Story feels cranky at times.
-Never got spooks by the horror(NOTE: im NOT the bravest soul around).
-Tedious combat at times.
-The extras(lightsaber, funky costume) made the game funner.

All IMHO.

The environment doesn't scare me a bit, but I had stopped at the first room with Zero, I can't stand playing in those atmosphere.

Have you tried the Heather Beam ? I added the light saber and Heather beam videos to the page. I find Heatherbeam funny. The light saber doesn't seem very special, it is not the first star wars un-related games with a light saber (e.g. ICO)

My Silent Hill page

I am still in the subway station, no time playing it these couple of days.

BTW, people who are Silent Hill fans said SH3 is more related to SH1.

From SH1 faqs, Harry Mason is the lead character and we know who Harry Mason is in SH3. ;) I agree FF/Zero was more creepy. SH3 is more of a straight action game. Hell, i used the Katana for most of my playthrough.

So yeah how do i get the H.Beam? Already gotten the Lightsaber, Flame Thrower, Unlimited SMG and Transform Suite. Nice to have em all and embark on extreme monster hacking!

To get Heather beam your total kill count need to be 333 or more (accumulated, not in one pass).

I beat SH2 recently.. and while I got the story.. there were still some questions left to be answered.

As far as the actual gameplay goes, I was rarely scared (if ever) but there were a few spooky parts. The combat wasn't too bad, if a little straightforward. (time your attacks perfectly and there's a chance that you can beat the game unscathed)

It left me hungry for more, I guess. I'll probably grab SH3 for the PC this Autumn.

You didnt mention anything about graphix!!! :D

I would but seeing the childish outburst by a few biased snorts, it might not be nice. What a way to kill a perfectly innocent topic. :devilish:

I just like to tell all those snorts, i do know the layman basics of TnL and BM. I believe unless you are some guy who dabble in depth with graphics tech, i do not think you know anymuch more than me.

You could have just written about graphics in a general way....like it is in every review....no-one writes in terms of pixels/vertex and these tech mojo...
