I just remember that SoD is also didn't get the attention it deserved, anyone played it? Share your thoughts.

Shadow of Memories is one of my all-time favorite games along with Silent Hill series, Resident Evil 2, Legacy of Kain: Soul Reaver and Final Fantasy series. It's a damn shame it never got the attention it deserved.
The story is amazing, and I think only Silent Hill 2 is equal to it. I also loved the idea of the game, which is to prevent the protagonist's death by changing events in the past. I wish more games would concentrate more on the story and atmosphere, instead of gunning down hordes of monsters.

Deepak you're making my PS2 feel ancient bringing up these old games. ;)

I rented this during that famous PS2 dry spell after the system launched (seemed like nothing came out for 6 months). I thought it was pretty neat, loved the atmosphere and twisty plot. The Homonculus was a very memorable character. Im not usually into the adventure game genre but the time travel aspect hooked me in. Very inventive, but a bit easy though, would of liked more complex puzzles in the end.

Its a shame more games didnt come out trying to refresh the old school adventure genre like this. Indigo Prophecy is the only other I can think of and thats some 5 years later.

It was one of my first PS2 games, played it through, loved it.
At the time it was also graphically very impressive.
I whished there would be a sequel, I think there was some talk of it from the developers, but I guess it never materialised.

Good graphics

Liverkick, do you remember "Ring of Red" also?

Deepak, Im still trying to forget that one my friend. :) The dialog might have been the worst Ive ever heard. I liked the mech strategy gameplay OK, it just got really repetitive after awhile. Didnt finish it.

First thing to remember about this game is that it's a pure adventure game, no action is involved.
Second thing to remember is to use a FAQ and play the game agin after you finished it once, because the game has a lot (8?) of very different endings, and you'll need to see them all to really uuderstand the story.

Good adventure game, with cool graphics back then.

It's one of my favorite games ever tied with ico in terms of emotional experience. I beat it many times and it never got old, it was just excellent, I even managed to get all the endings.
I'm even beginning to think I should try to play it again and get all the endings all over.

This is the kind of game that makes me like being a gamer. Almost no movie has pulled me in like this, and few books have. I mean it's that feeling of being pulled inby the atmosphere/the plot/the characters, of not being able to stop reading/playing/seeing/listening to something that makes me appreciate a medium.

It is a good game.

I wonder how many people got the standard ending where after everything is over, you lay on the plaza flood staring at the stars. Then a car ran you over.

I finished the game a few times so i could get all the endings, it was a very nice game at the time, if not a bit short.
Great graphics, some of the character models were way better than most other games, and the lighting was very good too. Animation was very stiff if i remember correctly.
I think if i were to look at it now, i'd go EWWW at all the graphical limitations and glitches, but at the time it was very impressive.

Lovely original story, we should have had a lot more story-driven games like this one, but it seems the public wants shootguns and footballs over and over...
