RV560/570 Gemini roadmap

Not specifically dual-core, but multichip on a card. See geo's sig, we've been speculating that since mid last year ;)

geo: LOL @ that tune, that's a perfect headshot
ATi had dual core cards before nV, back with teh old rage that was killed mostly by the lack of XP support. and there were alot of multi core ATi "proffetional" solutions, since they were supported since the R300's. so i dont realy see a copycat pattern here.
nV's dual cards are designed by OEM's, i dont think there is much of hardware limitation to created dual CF cards.

Well, 3dfx actually had it first in consumer space (Voodoo2 had two tex-units), but that's not the point I'm trying to make here :)

Gemini asserts some kind of dual-gpu on one card or what? :???:
You seem to be missing the point. Gemini is the sign of the twins, representing to separate personalities. Having two (or more) personalities is know as Borderline Personality Disorder. Borderline Personality Disorder is found on axis II in the DSM-IV. DSM is one letter removed from DRM. Knowing this one must conclude that there will be full HDCP support.

LOL!

I am gemini, so I should be able to support HDCP, cool! I'll just plug my thumb into that shiny new TV-set...

Actually the support you speak of in the R300 were already in the original Radeon R100.

You might find that one is UMC and the other TSMC.
Darnit, I was just about to speculate that. Of course, I'd be guessing and you're saying. :)

What's Gemini again? From the slide, I'd think it's not related to Xfire, just b/c it's a separate bullet point.

Looks as big as the dual NV40 boards... and powered by an external PSU. The cooler looks nice. But why not have 4 DVI connectors?

GeCube guy:

We also have another product we’ll be releasing, a dual GPU graphics card, which we’ve tentatively named “Gemini.” It’ll be based on the X1000 series GPU from ATI and will have four DVI output ports which can simultaneously display four different DVD streams. Our objective here is to get into the video market. This probably will be available by April after we display it at CeBIT and fine tune the drivers. We’ll probably first launch the X1600XT high-end version for around US$399.

And if it's on ATI's roadmaps, then it seems unlikely that only GeCube will be doing it. . .

Makes you wonder why they didn't use the MAXX name again, doesn't it?

X1950XTX MAXX

Ok now my head hurts. I think nVidia is winning the naming war by far.

Now back on topic, does anyone have a clue about the termals of such a product? I don't know if its reasonable to pack more heat insuch a small area. Notice that guys like me who live int he tropic care more about these issues, specially if one does not have air conditioning at home.
