rumor: Virtua Fighter 5 - Xenon launch game

What's the point of making arcaed games if a console version which will probably look and play the same comes out at the same time?
People who like videogames have consoles, if they can get a console version which is very similar to the arcade one at the same time, no one would go to the arcades.

Oh wait, that's what's been happening for the last few years, no one goes to the arcades anymore... The only advatage big arcade games enjoy is the release time advantage. Take that away and arcades will die completely. They're already comatose in intensive care.

I dont explicitly go out for the arcades( and dont think I ever would ), but I sometime visit them when Im next to one anyway.

You may have to reverse your logic, a bunch of People will buy Xenon at its Launchday, the rest will wait till its more affordable. If those remaining people pass by the Arcades sometimes like me, see a extraordinary excellent game they could also play at home if they shell out the money for a Xenon.... that would be pretty clever advertising on M$ Part? It never bothers you aslong you dont know what youre missing.

I was at the mall a few weeks ago and noticed our arcade has closed. I was very sad. I have fond memories of birthday party's and double dragon. This is the first time in 20 some years our mall (or city) doesnt have an arcade. Arcades have been near dead in this country since 97-98. That seems to be about the time computer gfx eclipsed them by a decent margain then home consoles did the same.

I was at a Dave and busters awhile ago playing their mechwarrior pods thinking how Steel Battalion online is a thousand times better.

I dont see arcades making a comeback or becoming a factor in the game industry until they offer something that can't be done at home. Like Holographic type interaction. (aka quarks Holosuite :D )

Sorry, when we - or at least I - talk about arcades, US and Europe do not exist in our/my reference. I refer only to Japan when I say 'arcades'. Maybe I should label them properly - amusement centers/parks.

Sorry....

Next Xbox has a fighter already in the works for launch and that will be the next DOA :)

Exactly, they would be foolish to have two premium fighters at launch.
