bought this new game for 4,99 on the OGO
it's not wipeout VR level but it's still very nice, immersion is good, it runs really smooth and graphics are clean. Controls pretty well too

Finally gave youtubevr app a chance. I have been seriously missing out, that is definitely a Killer App. There is some ridiculously good content among the crap.

Elton john vr spectacle put tears in my eyes. Survive the shit in the first minute that is awfull and wrong size elements and you shall be rewarded with a amazing ride. Just brilliant and it has been really made for vr with all kinds of interesting elements.
    https://www.wired.com/story/elton-john-vr-retirement-exclusive/

Cirque du Soleil VR video I watched was also brilliant. The lady with the rope and her gang was just ...amazing...

I had feeling vr is seriously slowing down as there isn't killer content but now after some watching of those youtubevr 3d videos my faith to vr is back as strong as ever. All the regular 2d/2d 360 videos are also there. Those are not as neat even though they are necessary as there just isn't enough well produced 3d vr videos yet(other than porn that is)

LOL, there is even soft porn on youtubevr: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCLUawTvY9wUpmxJ4PFHQEGg

Good search words seem to be 3d vr 180. 360 videos I have tried are mostly 2d and less interesting to me. I have been going through random videos for a while now and I have to say there are some gold nuggets in between the crap. vr videos in general are awesome.

Aren't vr videos on YouTube have crappy resolution and compression?

There is some insanely good looking videos also. Like these, if you have the network bandwidth needed to stream in highest quality.

(beginning is crap, then it gets good)

We should see HoloLens 2 in Feb . If the patent they have for doubling the fov works and makes it into this model they should have 60x35 . Hopefully they have a little more extra sauce in their display and can go further. I've been using a HoloLens almost daily and I love it. Just needs a wider fov.

In terms of comfort, anti-SDE, tracking and sound quality.

If I was going to get new vr headset I would wait and preorder oculus quest as soon as it becomes available. For pc I suspect pimax 5k is the sensible choice and 8k is ultimate.

the last oculus go update allows to record videos with sound now.
it's not AC7 but it'll do the job until the game is on sale

still suprised how clean games look in this headset

Vive - limited resolution , bad lenses , bad head strap so so controllers
Best tracking with light houses , premium head strap , vive pro for great resolution

Rift - same resolution as the vive , sensors need usb and you need more to equal vive tracking
Best controllers , head strap is as good or better than the premium vive. Some great exclusive games

Odessey Plus - Controllers are so so , tracking is not as great as the other options
Best resolution (the same as the vive pro + anti sde tech) no external sensors

The rift and OP can be had for $350 the majority of the time.

PS VR - lowest resolution , poor tracking , move controllers
Lowest cost , RGB so sde is not as noticeable , can only play ps vr games .

That is the best summary I can give you . I have a rift and OP . I use my op more than my rift now. I do this because set up is a lot easier and the higher resolution and bigger (its like 10degrees bigger) fov makes a drastic difference for me. However I will freely admit the tracking is not as good as a 3 or 4 camera rift tracking and the controllers are lacking compared to the rift. Facebook should have put out a rift 2 with the same specs as the upcoming Quest. It would have put it on par with the OP but with better controls . As it is now that resolution is really hurting the vive and the rift.

Good summary although unfair on PSVR - if you mention Rift's exclusives as a plus, you need to mention PSVR's as it's got a great library. Other's can argue about the quality of Move tracking. I don't know that people have struggled with the likes of Beat Sabre, for example.

Can you not play Rift exclusive games on WMR devices and Vive with a workaround? Rendering that advantage moot.

You can play a lot of them, but you can get a lot of the games bundled with the Rift if you go that route (thats how I got most of my Rift games)

I put the psvr titles as a plus. I think I worded it poorly. meant to be that its the only one that can play psvr games. Although for example beat saber is huge with the user created content.

you can through revive but its not the greatest experience and you loose a lot of the integration of rift features. When i'm playing steam I use my OP and when I play oculus games I put on my rift.

Some Rift S rumours from config files in the Ocular software, Onboard Cameras and Software IPD Adjustment.

It sounds like they are going for cheaper / more convenient rather then implementing their variable focus tech. Don't think that's a bad move. The market for a deviced requiring high specs than the Rift is still too small.

Could be that the software IPD is due to the focus / eye tracking hardware half-dome. November's Techcrunch article suggests otherwise though.

This would be fine if it launched in 2018 or if it launches in 2019 along side a rift 2 announcement or release. But they already have a low end vr headset and that's the rift at $350.

I can see the benefit for them by removing the sensors they can save money all the way through packaging , shipping and tech support. However for the end user an lcd screen used in the go from 2018 , no ipd adjust and most likely no intergrated headphones would not make for a compelling upgrade.

They are launching the quest in spring so I would not expect this till the fall or even 2020. Which means it could go up against refreshes from other companies. Samsung taking another go at WMR with MS expanding the spec to 4 cameras and perhaps designing better controllers while Samsung puts in newer higher res oled screens with a second go at anti sde tech. Or valve going to htc and others with the knuckle controllers and updated specs could trap oculus as low end hardware
