I was considering Socom cause ive seen some good reviews.. anyone got any other ideas?

It would help alot if you state which genres you like (theres little reason to go for FPS IMHO, since the PC-Games outclasses it in that regard )

Don't get SOCOM for single player, it's just OK. Online however is fun. If you don't have a Gamecube then give Resident Evil 4 a try.

i got some quick enjoyment out of total overdose. if you like GTA you'll like it, but it's a rent not a buy.

i'll give a second vote for RE4. console game of 2005 IMHO.

yeh I would agree with the FPS comment.. consoles just dont come close to having a mouse in hand to make those headshots..

as far as genres.. ive got wide tastes.. so just advise on some good games.. something i would like maybe is if there is something similar to Freelancer (PC)..

Ace Combat 4 & 5

These are excellent, very under rated games.

yeah Ace Combat 5 is pretty sweet.

Final Fantasy XI had me hooked for like 3 months with no sleep.

If you want a free online game then Monster Hunter can be fun too.

The Getaway Black Monday is pretty cool if you like crime stories with great acting.

-Silent Hill 2, 3 and 4. (2 was the better of the 3)
-SSX 3
-Socom 3 if you like shooters
-Metal Gear 2 & 3 (Though, if I were you I'd wait for Subsistence)
-Shadow of the Colossus
-Final Fantasy X, and X-2 ( i found X-2 fun though a little gay)
