PS5 doesn’t support those features and this is a port.Ratchet & Clank Rift Apart Benchmark Test & Performance Analysis
Ratchet and Clank: Rift Apart finally brings the epic franchise to the PC Platform. You get amazing visuals, with support for ray tracing, Direct Storage and all important upscaler technologies. In our performance review, we're taking a closer look at image quality, VRAM usage, and performance...www.techpowerup.com
Hmph. So the game doesn't use mesh shading or sampler feedback as the 5700XT performs well compared to the other cards.
This means a lot of performance, VRAM savings and quality is wasted for DX12U compatible cards. @Dictator Maybe you can ask Nixxes why they don't use an advanced next gen featureset.
It supports primitive shading. I don't think it would be that much work to port that over to Mesh Shader. Atleast from what I have heard. And Sampler Feedback is probably not hard to implement, especially since its meant to be used in combination with DirectStorage GPU decompression.PS5 doesn’t support those features and this is a port.
Expecting Nixxes to rewrite core parts of the rendering engine when doing a port is very unrealistic. Not to mention it's still questionable whether those features provide any meaningful, real world benefit. It supports primitive shading. I kinda expect such a high praised studio to fit the game's architecture to the PC platform.
Mesh shader is PS5 Primitive Shader + more. You could basically fold PS5 Primitive Shader into mesh shader. But it turns out neither are required for this game to run well. So you can't blame Nixxes for not focusing on Mesh Shader.PS5 doesn’t support those features and this is a port.
No one is mocking the solution, they're mocking the morons who were hyping it up as the second coming of Jesus when in reality it's not as super duper as it was hyped to be.
I think it's likely this game isn’t using primitive shaders to begin with.Mesh shader is PS5 Primitive Shader + more. You could basically fold PS5 Primitive Shader into mesh shader. No-one else cares and Nixxes are pushing boundaries as it is. Based Nixxes.
Agreed!I think its likely this game isn’t using primitive shaders to begin with.
Another brilliant quote that aged like the finest of milk.
2 weeks later
"I don't think any PC out there can match the PS5 speed in doing the portal sequence"
Listen to the exact wording he used, it's not the win you think it is.
That is the wording he used.
Your quote ended up being widely off the mark. Get over the embarrassment, learn from it, and be a better contributor.
Widely off the mark?
You think that one instance makes PS5's SSD Super Duper? It's just an SSD, one that has been massively surpassed by drives on PC, get over it.
Honestly, it's like 2020 on Twitter all over again
And you still think it's simply the SSD that is hailed. You're right 2020 all over again. If you don't understand now you never will.
BUH-BYE!
It's not performing that well actually (comparatively speaking), the 5700XT is usually competing closer to a 2070 Super, here it's performing way slower. The 3060 is 20% faster than the 5700XT in this game, which means the 2070 Super is way faster (30% faster), since the 2070 Super is some 10% faster than the 3060.Hmph. So the game doesn't use mesh shading or sampler feedback as the 5700XT performs well compared to the other cards.
