Which is precisely why some of us wonder why you know what you do about 'unannounced products', but we're not complaining.

By the way, that link you provided shows that ATI is having a world premiere presentation in the early afternoon of May 5th.

Because his brother is Dave Orton and his sister's uncle is Jen-Hsun Huang. Duh.

Yes, Jen-Hsun is Dave Orton's uncle. That's why he always calls him "whippersnapper" in press conferences.

Exactly. Now you know, kids, and knowing is half the battle.

Jen-Hsun really is that crazy uncle you never had.

Maybe that is why they couldn't get the last four pipes to work for a while.

    Re: TSMC's low-k trouble

I doubt that..it seems they were talking about alot bigger chips here..And ATI was not even mentions.
Plus..since when do Video card chips run this hot?

Maybe they were talking of the NV40...

    Re: TSMC's low-k trouble

 Maybe thats why the NV40 needs two molex connectors..One for the card and one for the cooling fan?? :p

That might work if TSMC was actually fabbing NV40 :)

    Re: TSMC's low-k trouble

They're trying to gauge reliability over years in tests that last much less than that. One way to do that is to overwork the chip at higher-than-normal temperatures, AFAIK.

Thanks for the link, ZT. Now I just need someone with a far greater knowledge of fabbing timelines to interpret it for me. :) For instance, No way is ATi stress-testing the R420 for 10K hours (they just don't have the time to test a chip for over a year), so I wonder if they're one of the ones affected by this.

They would stress test a sample of the chips. They also would have a verification process.

    Re: TSMC's low-k trouble

They are stress testing, thus running at a higher temperature (and most likely higher voltage) to accelerate thermal migration etc.

They could off cause run the chip for 5 years under normal operation conditions instead...if they had the time.

For people expecting reviews of the XT variant a few weeks after the 5th.....I wouldn't count on it
    Reviewers have it now

I hope that means that we'll get them the 5th and not more then a few weeks after. Cause it's getting a bit annoying to wait :)

Don't think of it as waiting, think of it as practicing being patient. ;)

    I was going to say:

Have any of you considered that multiple "X"s in the name raises the chances that one of them belongs to "XT"? :)

So a "X" in the product name, and another X in XT?
