[PS3] Uncharted 2

Those walls were demolished by the tank. Before the tank those were alright. It was 'interesting' to hit invisible walls in the middle of the map while running away from villains , though :D. Here's another view of it ; [ http://i28.tinypic.com/2gt8z7p.jpg ].

There are vehicles in MP ? I thought it's human vs human only ?

I will need to visit GameStop to demand for my code. I'm supposed to get it via Email but have not received anything yet.

About the MP , I'm amazed by the visuals. I can't believe how a 3yo machine can do those visuals. Awesome work by ND. But except the Co-op mode , I didn't like the U2 MP as much as KZ2's , so far. I don't know maybe its because of the amazing visuals kept me busy :] , couldn't concentrate on the game itself.

Heh, I am trying to compare KZ2 with U2 too.

No, the tanks are like the choppers in the other map - it comes through the terrain, messes things up and shoots everyone in sight (though the chopper I think only strafes a certain area, the tank shoots with more accuracy). I also managed to get into an area where I could get the camera to move inside Elena. (That sounds dirtier than it really is ;) )

She's got her teeth and gums modelled, and behind that her tongue. The rest is hollow. ;)

@AlStrong: sorry, I hadn't realised that despite them being 1280x720p they were still almost 1MB each. I forgot that not all JPGs are created equal. I'll recompress them next time!

There are some lovely moments in the co-op game, like Chloe giving Drake a playful smack on the arse! Hahaha... I'm sensing game of the year here.

The visuals are a bit too good & the image quality is quite flawless...so much so that its disturbing :)

So true!
I'm also in the beta (woot) and the game is just too slick. They should really lower the framerate a bit or something because this just feels unnatural. :D

So is the editor only for MP online or will it be available for offline LAN anyone knows? I so look forward to make some machinema with my retail copy and god do I need to emphasize on those godly visuals!

In the online MP beta there's only the replay mode - this is not actually the machinima function. I have no idea what kind of limitations there are, but I thought the video was fairly clear with that anyway?

Do games even support offline LAN these days? Does Uncharted 2?

Anyone notice the little ads in the lobby? It switches between showing a link the Naughty dogs twitter and facebook page, the release of Uncharted 2 in Fall, and that they are looking to hire new staff. I dont mind these kinds of ads as long as they keep them non-intrusive and games related.

I find that those little teamwork sections to get into a new area are breaking the action a little too much. Especially when someone still running around and your left waiting for them, or when someone hasn't moved the whole game, forcing you to quit. Seeing how many there are for such a short level, there is probably some technical reason for them. I wonder how large these areas can get in the full game.

Getting killed and not being revived is little annoying, having to wait a minute to respawn. I was hit by a grenade form my own teammate, knocking me down, followed immediately by another one, killing me. All that your left with is waiting your teammates play, and seeing their scores increase. Hopefully that sort of thing doesn't end up being exploited.

Playing as Chloe I always seem to lose focus of the action, like it's just better to have her keep running around aimlessly.

So far I like the MP a bit more then I expected, although that wasn't much. And it's surprisingly low on bugs and glitches from what I've seen in other beta's.

Are the co-op missions dynamic or are they the same every time you play them? What I'm wondering is how quickly they will wear thin. If they have dynamic spawning, or maybe a few different paths that can be blocked/unblocked at each play, the co-op would have much longer legs. Not that I'm complaining because most co-op games are the same each time you play them. I just want to see more Left 4 Dead influence in some other games I play ;)

... or R2 co-op ! ^_^ The game spawns different enemies based on the user levels.

Cool. That should keep it interesting. How many maps/scenarios will ship with the game? Is the one in the demo short?

I'm going to check to see if I can download the demo tonight. I have a preorder code, but I'm mixed up about the date it is valid again.

In this beta it seems to play out exactly the same every time. Easily allowing you to advantage of knowing where enemies spawn.

The beta has only a single co-op level divided in 3 small areas that can be completed fairly quickly.

I think some of the replay value might come from buying every last upgrade. The beta shows a list of upgraded for every gun, and list of perks.

Although you can earn points on every gamemode to spend in every gamemode. So in theory, you could earn all the points you need in the SP, and start MP with every upgrade.

Gah... I didn't mean to imply U2 does exactly that. I was refering to R2 when talking about the enemy spawn above.

Yeah, now I can see how that can be read two ways. Still, I'm looking forward to trying the demo, especially co-op, if I can download it soon.

Cornsnake, is the AI smart ?

Well the beta is limited to easy and normal difficulty settings. So they are mostly cannonfodder now. I have seen them make good use of hand to hand combat though. Stuff like flanking is made difficult for them simply because the areas are somewhat narrow, I've only seen that once so far. And they will spawn form multiple sides, so you'll be cornered anyway.

It's too bad that the co-op part is so limited in the beta. I would really like to see what they could do in a more open area, and on a higher difficulty setting. The first Uncharted had some decent enemy AI after all.

Going by what Cornsnake has said, I assume the AI is similar to the beta a few months back. The enemies have strict spawn points and scripted sequences they go through before they start to engage. You can hit them during the sequence and they'll try to get to their pre determined spot before engaing. They do a good job of switching to CQC when you get within range though.

Yeah, that's pretty much it. I'm trying to look out for some more smart behaviour now. Last game they climbed a ladder to sneak up behind me and got me in a chokehold. After that his buddy throws a grenade that kills us both. And that was on easy.

For anyone playing the beta. Go to your profile, (press square in the lobby) and set your co-op difficulty to normal. It's on easy at default, and if any of the 3 co-op players has it on easy, that game will be played on easy. Or at least that seems to be going on because I have gotten 1 game on normal so far.

Nice, let me know. The enemy AI is one of the strengths of the original Uncharted. Kinda expect them to carry over to co-op.
