[PS3] Uncharted 2

rofl, this thread is having a tough time progressing!

Back to the topic: I'm excited to see the game moving to multiple locales. I'm kind of curious to see how many we'll visit. We know we'll be in the mountains, and later in an urban environment...I'm curious to see if there will be more than that?

Honestly, I'm secretly hoping there aren't too many. Part of the charm for the original uncharted was it's cohesive setting, everything went together marvelously. I hope this one can continue on that path.

Besides Tibet, what locations have been announced so far ?

Its Nepal in the videos we have seen, with Hindi everywhere on sign boards ! One sign board says "Laundry" in hindi and the one below it says "Beer" ;) !

Tibet seems logical, as it is set in generally the himalayas, has it been confirmed? Also, I think we'll see himalayan monastaries and maybe a journey from wherever Drake is to the himalayas can have lotsa locations. I hope its all cohesive like Drakes Fortune!

... then here's something to pre-empt the "Do you have a beta key" question: :)

Just saw some brand new footage from E3... Absolutely breathtaking. I'll try to post a link when I find one.

How can you conclude that it was linear if you haven't played it?

For that matter, what modern games AREN'T linear? You're still going from point A to point B completing objectives, even in Sandbox titles.

Further more, describe "open ended gameplay"? As far as I can tell, the AI is very dynamic, you can climb a shit load of things, the cover mechanic has received an overhaul, and some environments look destructable (though scripted).

Are you all asking Uncharted to become a sandbox title? Maybe they should make it in the shadow of Fallout or Elderscrolls? Just open worls pick your own quests? I'm really at a loss here.

Because you there was little room to move around, or cover to choose from. But this being a very short segment of the game, I really don't mind. The action came out looking great because of it.

With open ended gameplay I mean letting the player decide how to engage the enemy instead of throwing him into the action. From which position to start shooting, or to try to use stealth instead, ect

I'm certain the game will present many situations like that, since the first title did some of that as well.

Just just think it's a bit premature to start calling a game linear based on a few short minutes of gameplay in one section that is clearly a very guided and action-oriented experience.

It's amazing how people can deduce so much from an obvious set play in a game. Of course it's going to appear linear as they want you to hit all the reference points. and who know maybe you can amble around for hours doing nothing but at the end of the day if a game has a story, it's going to be linear.

Gears 2, Resi5, MGS4, Killzone2 and so many others have been linear too. Did it matter? No.

And this one seems more engaging than anything I have seen so far, which is probably enabled by the linear nature of the game. So probably thats something that we should thank than complain about

It looked much better than I expected. If linearity is the price I have to pay for rollercoaster level design like that I'm all for it. I'm pretty sure there will be plenty of room to catch your breath in between those segments, though.

I'm turn on by this game and linearity is not a concern to me, it was the same with GeoW andit dones't bothered me at all I was stuck in it actually :)

Between gamersyde has a way better video than gametrailer for uncharted (as usual I would dare to say).
