The reason I liked Uncharted's gunplay was because it was fast and responsive despite the cover mechanics.
And the sections with those "things" were the high point of that mentality, so yeah I loved them.
I hope they add more stuff like that.

The only reason they would need to expand on that element would be creative difficulty

I enjoyed it in Uncharted, but it was wrapped up well.
