PS3 size versus Blu-Ray drive

My point exactly...

I do however think that those expensive players are not very good value, they cost a lot more, but offers only little bit more, the biggest difference between Denon 1910(I have one BTW) and 3910 is that 3190 looks more expensive :).

And the DVI/HDMI with 720p/1080i video upscaling, SACD/DVD-A play back, DCDi Faroudja, firewire output for digital multichannel output......BUT... i want the Denon DVD-A1XV so bad.

you'll get the same quality drive as the first ps2 dvd drives

Like the one in my PS2 I bought November 24 2000 on EU launch which stilll runs perfectly fine more than 5 years later now. That's sweet!

Denon 1910 lacks HDMI, but it has DVI-D with DCDi Faroudja FLI-2301 and it upscales also

that's great for you but 2 of mines failed in 2 years :(

i know a great deal of people who have had their launch ps2 drives failed

It's almost safe to assume that the BDROM drive in PS3 will be a cheap model. The CDROM drive in PS1 was a cheap one, and it was a common failure. The DVD drive in PS2 was a cheap one and failed frequently as well.

This isn't bashing Sony or anything, just personal experience with their older systems.

I've also seen at least 5 bad Xbox DVD drives and about 3/4 bad hard drives.

I've yet to see a failed Gamecube disc drive though.
