PS3 RSX=NVxx?

in short, the RSX is a crippled NV47 that's been tweaked for a closed boxed envionment. it's supposed to have a boost in cashe over the standard NV47s / GF 7800

GF 7800 GTX: 8 vertex shaders, 24 pixel-shader-pipelines, 16 pixel pipelines/rops, 256-bus
RSX: 8 vertex shaders, 24 pixel-shader-pipelines, 8 pixel pipelines/rops, 128 bit bus

"Crippled" is probably too strong a word. It probably will provide virtually the same performance as a GF7800 GTX-512 except at very high resolutions. Closed box optimizations will probably make the shortcoming moot anyways.

It's not actually a parallel 128 bit bus, but it has roughly the same bandwidth as the GDDR3 interface, so in that sense it's almost correct, albeit confused.
It's seven lanes of FlexIO (56 bit), and after that it's an XDR interface (64 bit).
