All the cutscenes in the first one are prerendered.
Seeing how they praise the graphics in the cutscenes for the new one, i'm guessing this time they'll actually run in realtime.
They were recorded in-engine footage. It wasn't "pre-rendered". Naturally, since it's in-engine footage, they can afford to do other things with lighting since they don't have to work with physics or AI. Even then, the majority of all of their cutscenes were done in real time, the only ones that were done via recorded footage were there to mask loading (as the same was done on PS2 ratchet titles).
