PS3 ONLINE region lock

Well i tested Resistance (JAPAN version) and YUP , only JAPAN online games are visible.

I tested this with my usa online account and my japan online acount. Looks like its embedded in the gamesoftware to which server it has to connect.

Next up is RR7 to check

I hope they dont blockout by ps3 id or macadres.. ? hm ... nah that cant be
edit: after checking on other forums, aparantly its only Resistance..

Sony currently doesn't support international servers, and while we did indeed test cross-Pacific multiplayer with Resistance, in the release version, this isn't available. We are currently working with Sony in the hopes of supporting it in the future.

Patch/server change/etc. is possible for Resistance: Fall of Man. Obviously some things have to happen, but we're working on it.

I.E when you believe you like some game and would like to play the game online, but the Japanese don't in general. I'd expect there to be enough games available even in the japanese version of Resistance though, no?

For resistance you you must have low ping to enjoy the multilayer. Therefore, Japan and NA have separate servers...

I guess it a pain when everybody is talking japanese into their headsets and you want to do teamwork with them..

RR7 was worldwide online. Damn those Japanese know how to drive. OR I suck at it. need more practice.

I absolutely hate driving games online

Because i allways thought i was a good driver, but the skill level in some games is just amazing. I allways loose

Hey, sorry to dig up an oldie, but we're considering buying a PS3 for family in the US. I'm a little confused by the posts here and in the other PS3 lock thread. It sounds like -- please correct me if I'm wrong -- Japanese PS3s will play games from all regions without problem, but only play Japanese region games online, and only play Japanese region BRD movies. True?

JPN PS3 for BRD - plays both japanese and NA blu-ray movies.
JPN PS3 for games - plays all region games
JPN PS3 for online - plays japan region online players/servers (though I've only heard it for resistance, so far)

that said, theres ways around playing with only on japanese servers. a US game save seems to be the work around.

for now it is only Resistance and that could be just because it is nothosted on the companys own servers but on the SONY servers
