Do you think the cutscenes are pre-rendered this time since they're aiming for load-screen free game?

The quality of lighting, assets and effects used in kz3's cutscenes are virtually identical to the gameplay, at least to me. The animation though are better mo capped in the cutscenes.

Just remember that especially on a forum like B3D making hyperbole statements will make others do a reseach and analyse technical merits and visual merits. Nobody can claim to be the strongest man by words alone and no evidence. Sadly it generally is PS3 threads that are full of hyperbole and users endlessly claiming anything to be the best or superior or whatever. Heck just look at B3D history and all of the threads and bans generated by lunatics, it's like they worship the piece of electronic.

Anwyay this goes wildly OT but this B3D, analyzing FTW. :p

I don't mind the judging the graphics because it is a tech forum but some of you guys are as fair and balanced as fox news. When see some of you guys names in a ps3 exclusive thread it never good but in a 360 thread or multiplat I don't see the same judgment.

If someone thinks it the best graphics ever for them is ok...its their opinion. It would be nice if their was a standardized way the judge graphic but their isn't.

Is it me or did they up the level in the sound department listening the the first KZ3 trailer sounded really good on my setup.

Gorgeous! The IQ and characters' models have received a MAJOR upgrade, not to mention the improved texture work...

It looks like GG have perfected it with this iteration of KZ. It's only taken three iterations!! This is so on pre-order.

The comparisons between CS2 and KZ3 are disingenuous at best. Until there is a version, of CS2, running on the PS3 with direct feed shots we don't have anything other than opinions to compare. IMO the original Crysis and the KZ1 have quite a bit in common. They both excelled technically, they both pushed the hardware platform they were created on to the max, and both were fundamentally flawed games almost to the point of being broken in places.

The difference being that GG has perfected the game play. Crytek have yet to prove themselves in this respect. What's the point in have an all singing all dancing engine if the game is mediocre at best?

Er, texture work is pretty mixed - they're using a low res base texture and overlay tiling detail textures on top of it for cloth weave and such. It's very evident once you start to look at the larger details...

Some of the lighting is quite inconsistent too, that group shot with lots of characters looks like a bad photoshop, like literally pasting various cutout figures on top of an unrelated photograph.

I also don't like how bright areas of the image clip to white all too often... But everything with that huge walker looks utterly amazing. So it's mostly a question of art direction, although that might be limited by the underlying tech.

Possible, GG wanted to add it after KZ2 and it kinda looks like it. The general image quality is a bit too messed up to tell it for sure, with all the noise...

Are you ignoring the option to have a horizontally split screen because it would negate your argument?
I wasn't aware there was such an option in KZ3 since all the co-op footage I've seen is with the screen split vertically. Any source on that?

Crysis 2 footage at least from what I've seen sacrifices a lot of things to achieve that single bounce GI and HDR.
All games have tradeoffs, C2 does, KZ2/3 does, Halo games do, etc...

That last pic does it have SSAO?
Doesn't seem like it. The latest videos don't have it.

What is the cause of all the black speckles around various characters. It is especially noticeable around the girls hood?

Game looks very nice, but I still think Uncharted 2 is the best looking console game this gen.

When i started playing KZ3 betta with bots, and noticed that when you shoot multiple rounds at the ground, you get shots that ricochet, i noticed this when i was using the mech and is started seeing some shots hitting the walls!, same as when shooting on foot.
Another thing i noticed is that when you're outside on Corinth Highway, the particle/flame debris glow and illuminates the wall you're near. Just subtle things, but pretty good if you ask me.:D

Interesting. Does it only ricochet if it hits the surface at a glancing angle, like in Reach? It would seem a bit odd if it hit the wall directly, only to ricochet off and kill you :p

What prevents GG from featuring online splitscreen for competitive MP if splitscreen is in the campaign? Also any speculation on why there are no plans for online co-op? I assumed since Sony was pushing 3D that this would potentially pave the way for more games covering essentially all the bases like Halo does as far as playing with friends is concerned.
I wonder this too. Online co-op is much more important than MLAA, SSAO or any other technical details for average joe, the majority. They had 2 years to implement new gameplay modes to the KZ2 engine but it seems they didn't bother. Looks like it was more intriguing to mess existing menus, weapon balance or classes [ except Assault ].

They already proved that they're one the best studios besides Naughty Dog and Santa Monica, with KZ2. They should have focused on gameplay & game modes this time. Too much bad decisions [ no Dedicated servers, server lists etc ] from GG this time. Yoshida must remind them they're game developers not Team ICE.
