Why would you want a sharp and "dry" look like in the earlier KZ3 trailers ? The newer trailers show more KZ2-like dusty, blurry environment, which is more interesting and consistent. Otherwise, it looks like a different game.

KZ2 has always have that soft look. Now in KZ3, they have textures that show finer details, but that should not take the style away. I still want to see lights reflected on-the-fly, the environmental effect (like heavy rain !) blurring up my aim, the motion blur, plus other filters.

Preserves more of the scene detail unless it's limited and bluriness is used to just make image more coherent. Also what HD is all about, no? :LOL:

I thought people disliked that with Unleashed 2 but seeing screenshots without smudge layer makes it look faker, "static", less "CGI'ish". But anwyay didn't say it was bad just pointed it that there is a smudgy look.

Might be, I find that some games look better with Wide Tent than without but mainly due to having a fake look about them (atleast MW2) that is reduced with smudge layer.

Those HD details are present in KZ3 (See the shots above). During gameplay, the filters would kick in to present a totally different feel. The earlier KZ3 videos didn't show post processing effects, and the difference in atmosphere -- or rather lack thereof -- is stark.

It is rather meaningless to look only at the resolution. Not sure what smudgy means since it's not a technical term, but the light reacts to character movement, the environment is presented via layers of effects throughout. I don't see why they want to leave some textures alone to break the immersion and environmental effects.

In the Killzone world, they don't really have to follow "realistic" Earth warfare look. We should be able to see GG's space world and alien jungles in KZ3.

LOL @ Hamster effect.

Interesting that you can fly on top of the robotic arms, and disable the EMP. Becomes a little like MAG where the in-game military assets make a real difference to gameplay.
 
The lighting / lights certainly looks better! And there seems to be more detail in the geometry as well.

Isn't Visari dead already? Or do the MP fights take place during KZ2 or something?

But damn that footage looks nice..first time I've really wanted to get into a beta!

I downloaded theme one minute after they uploaded it so yeah (Europe) ;) Beta is already on the store, Sony just screwed up something :???:

Moan, b&@)tch, you wanted it bad huh? :) Downloaded the theme 20min after with 2000+ people already having ranked it, but I'm in as well :)

First impressions: game looks really good - textures. lighting, IQ, character models -> all of this is better this time.

Framerate is not so great and there is weird bug (?), only jetpack weapon cast muzzle flash shadows, all other weapons don't do that.

I hope this will be fixed :)
 
I agree with earlier comments that the graphics are a little shimmery, but other than that looks great - lighting and detail are excellent, and some great smoke effects. Explosions currently hurt framerate. Other than that its definitely Killzone, though slightly smoother controls than 2s refined version. Initially I don't have anything but guns though even
as medic. Got my first point, hopefully means I can revive now.
 
So basically:

1) On default sensitivity the game feels like KZ2 on high sensitivity with high precision turned on (for those who don't know KZ2 sorted out teh input lag later).

2) The framerate isn't good, KZ2 wasn't the smoothest multiplayer game but it definitely ran better than this & it maintained a stable 30FPS more often than this, here you can be in your base & still get a 25-26-ish feel. Even the menu doesn't feels very smooth.

3) The aim snaps too fast for a KZ game.

4) The grain filter is a quite strong in this one, they should reduce it to KZ2 level.

5) MLAA is a hit or miss, it can make maps like Corinth highway awesome but at the same time can make makes maps the other two maps look awful with tons of sub-pixel aliasing. I want QAA back eventhough if it means an extra layer of blur (the grain filter already makes things look fuzzy so wouldn't hurt if it gets a soft look due to QAA).

6) Sprint is short, one of the things I loved about KZ2 was the ability to do long sprints. :|

There's one more problem as well, its that the guns currently don't have any recoil & have minimal bullet spread....but GG mentioned that they'll be sorting this out.

I admit open hearted that I am a little bit jealous...Billy wants to participate the beta as well :cry:

What about lag (no, not the control lag)?
