[PS3] Killzone 3

I reckon you destroy the driver rather than the Mech.

Unless you're a sniper (and even then) it's hard to kill a mechs' driver.

So far if you see a mech you either look for another mech to do 1-on-1 mech battles (mechwarrior style), take it down with the rocket launcher, use the mounted SWARM missle launcher, use rockets from a fully upgraded turret (engineer class) or try to shoot the driver in the face while getting blanketed by chaingun fire and rockets ;-)

I.e. Friggin AWESOME!

ha ha, sounds cool!
I would build up a Elite pack, specialized to take out the Mech...calling themselves Hunter's

Pics and vids look sensational - makes it pretty tragic that I am not in the Beta

Too me it basically looks the same as Killzone 2. Not revolutionary like that games looks was at the time. Now just another game graphically.

Sniping vid I like the gun animation at the end:

Heh, in that vid the uploader says he plays bots because noone online. So already same as Killzone 2? :p I have no prob getting a game of Crysis 2 anytime even though at first I think there was literally 25 people in that beta (I kept seeing same ones!)

At 1:25 he shoots the guy in the side and the guy magically picks up and flies ten feet backwards paralllell to direction of bullet like a doll . Anyways bullets do not pick people up and throw them regardless of wrong direction, not like you see in movies. If a bullet had enough kinect energy to throw a person, then recoil would do the same to the shooter!

>_<

KZ3 beta is not open to the participating 15,000 PS+ members until 25th October. The poster is probably an early beta tester since the movie was uploaded on 22th October.

You can find more details in the GAF thread here:

I am actually happy that they kept the same style as KZ2. Was worried KZ2 became a one-off showcase just to backup their 2005 trailer.

KZ3 levels should be bigger, with working streaming. Still waiting to see if stereoscopic 3D impresses. The special edition is said to include Helghan goggles (3D ?). Plus, there are other terrains besides desert.

I suspect KZ2 fans are generally more keen in gameplay improvements.

It has the same style as Killzone 2 I'll give you that but in terms of graphics it still shows obvious improvements, quite honestly I just don't see any other console MP games looking nearly as good. The textures are vastly improved, much higher res now. MLAA really cleaned up the textures here and the IQ looks like it's got 16xaa slapped onto it. It also seems to have a lot more dynamic lights now with better lighting and bloom. Tons more particle effects than KZ2's and better explosions. It's still alpha MP footage we're talking here so the final SP code should completely blast away KZ2 IMO.

Textures seems to have recieved a reasonable bump but it depedns on location judging by GAF captures. MLAA and smdueg blur though hides jaggies well and shader aliasing. Rest seems fairly same but several of the lightsources in those pics looks like coronas.

What smudge blur do you speak of? I can see a bit of grain but the overall IQ is very sharp nonetheless. Post processing is definitely increased such as flying cinders, embers, snow flakes etc and explosions are a lot more meatier.

I don't know which exactly, but the first batch of shots that were posted there was by someone who is capturing card MPEGs the data, and the captures are from the MPEG version of the feed. So they're likely to be smudged a little. He talked about trying to change it but that his PC can't keep up with direct feed or something, so I don't know if later shots are different.

It did make me think about for a moment if there are texture smoothing steps that you should perhaps avoid when you're using MLAA as well because for some effects MLAA might look better? Not sure though.

The specular aliasing is blurred in the first image.

Huh? I truely have no idea what that means.

Second image. None of the details in the texture itself are particularly sharp.

I'll just have to disagree with you here, I'm well aware of what blurred concrete textures look like in a Killzone game

and these are no comparison:

or even these textures in the wall on the righthand side:

Edit: Or as better examples, the 2nd and 4th pictures in Mr Domino's link:

I'm not seeing any aggrevious fullscreen blur going on

By definition, aliasing is high frequency - sharp/jagged.

That's simply low res texturing.

I don't think we're talking about the same thing here. The lines in between the tiles, the actual finer details of the textures are not sharp.
