PS3 DID use HDMI at GDC

Good morning guys,

I've just posted a series of images taken on the showroom floor at GDC which clearly illustrates the fact that Sony did use HDMI connectivity for some SDK's in the demo area. In addition, I also saw the standard Sony Multi A/V connector in use as well as an older SDK using S-Video from a standard NVIDIA graphics card. You can see the images in the following post at Hot Hardware:

Thank you for your time, have a good one!

regarding the ethernet ports..

so you have one uplink ethernet port and a 3 port switch at the back then?

I think its an uplink/in and 2 port switch.

That extra port to the left seems to be development related, not sure though.

I thought it was two ins, one out, one in reserved for HDIP Camera, the other's for networking. Two outs wouldn't make sense as where'd the camera/network go?

On a port on the 2 port switch? The idea of the HDIP camera is that it is essentially a self reliant network device. You could feasibly have it in UK on a network connected to the internet and access it from the US. It doesn't need an "in" port.

Multiple IN/uplink ports wouldn't make much sense. =p

It seems the switch part is still confusing to people for whatever reasons (as it is a rather strange thing to see a switch embedded like that).

It's a 2 port switch with an uplink port. The uplink is where you plug in the connect from the internet or from your router (the uplink port also acts as the normal IN connection for the PS3, like you see on a normal network device), and the 2 OUT ports are where you connect things like an X360, a computer or the Eyetoy2. It's the only feasible way it would/could work, and it's highly likely all it would take to create a real router out of it would be a firmware change, considering the way it's set up (not really worth the trouble for Sony though -- as they've stated, it seems).

Rrrrrnnnn, ZZZZzzzz... SKNX-X!

Wake me up when there's something in this thread worth giving a damn about. Who cares? How slow a news day does it have to be when people post about what fecking CABLE connected a prototype system to the god damn TV?

I feel ashamed people actually are that desperate for PS3 info to be interested about stuff like this, it's EMBARRASSING!

Blame Tom's for making that silly article... this was merely a "TG doesn't know what they were talking about" correction.

Notice the lack of many posts? I don't think anyone is really all that concerned. Infact all but the first response were talking about the ethernet ports!

I think you're feelings of shame and embarassment are a bit premature =p
