Pro-Scan DVD playback on XBOX and PS2???

i've been hearing this for some time...

ps2 is supposed to get a driver update allowing it to play DVD's in progressive scan, while the xbox already has something of this kind?!?!

what is this all about??
there's a feature on IGN....
is this just a bunch of BS or is there anything i should know about??
i know that i'm far away here in little ol'britain but what the heck...

Out of the box, neither PS2 or Xbox can play DVD video in progressive scan. However, there is a special hack for Xbox that you can use - IF you mod your Xbox, that allows for progressive DVD output.

Update for PS2 drivers have been rumored for some time, but so far nothing.

ooooooooh i see.....

well sony will come up with something im sure... i just wished they did something nice for the CD playback.... its very "posh" and won't read scratched cd's that would play just fine on normal cd players....

at the moment im using my ps2 as a play-everything kind of thing which is more than enough hooked up to my dd-dts surround sound system.....
